William Beiderlinden Severe

William Beiderlinden Severe was a long-time resident of the Washington Metro Area and will be missed by hundreds of friends and acquaintances. Bill was born on October 25, 1959 in Washington, DC and was baptized at the Washington National Cathedral. Bill was the oldest of three siblings in the Severe family, which made residence during Bill's formative years in Delaware, Texas and New Hampshire. It was in Hockessin, Delaware where Bill graduated from Alexis I. duPont High School in 1977, following year as a cadet at Valley Forge Military Academy. He earned BA degrees in both Business Administration as well as Finance from the University of Delaware. In his final academic year, he had the honor of representing the university as part of a delegation to Israel that participated in a cultural exchange and met with Menachem Begin.

Bill's life was both eclectic and broad and he therefore touched many lives. His academic background provided the foundation for a career in the financial services and mortgage banking sector. Leveraging his professional experiences, Bill built a career as a consultant in business development and tactical management and received the prestigious Shipley Certification as part of his qualifications as a Federal capture/proposal management consultant. His personal life was filled with adventure and passion. The last 14 years of his life, Bill served as the Chairman of the Men's committee for the National Debutante Cotillion in Washington DC and was a continuous Cotillion attendee for the last 35 years. For over 20 years, Bill brought his warmth, joy and zest for life to the membership of the White House Hash House Harriers running club with whom he completed over 2, 500 runs and 10, 000 miles with a dogged persistence and ability to overcome challenges found only in champions. Upon completion of his rare achievement in February 2017, hundreds of his friends and fellow hashers honored Bill (aka "Bad Dog") with a ceremony and celebration that reflected his love of life, for life and for his friends.

He enjoyed skydiving, scuba diving, hang gliding and was in pursuit of his hot air balloon pilot license and had a great enthusiasm for World War II and Civil War history. For many years, the Lord of Life Lutheran Church looked forward to his contribution to the annual Christmas production.

Bill Severe is survived by his brother Blair Goodall Severe (Courtney Pitts) of Bethesda, MD and sister Ann Severe Wickerham of Ijamsville, MD; three nephews (William Paul Wickerham, Benjamin Goodall Severe and James Edward Severe) and two nieces (Janet Ann Wickerham and Clare Albee Severe).
