William C. Townsend, Jr. (CJ ), 47, of Reston, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2015 in Reston Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He was a proud alumni of the class of 1989 from the University of Virginia. He also earned a Master's Degree in Education from Marymount University. He spent 20 years doing what he loved best - educating tomorrow's leaders. Teaching was his passion and he made an impact on many young lives. Although he taught several grade levels, CJ's favorite was 4th grade. As a history buff, he loved teaching 4th graders about Virginia history, especially during the field trip to Jamestown. He loved traveling and discovering new cultures. CJ enjoyed spending time in continental Europe as well as Iceland, Costa Rica, and Fiji. CJ was also a diehard Redskins fan, who spent every Sunday of the football season supporting his team in victory and defeat. He is preceded in death by his mother Penny. He is survived by his wife, Eva; his two young children, Liam and Sean; his father, William Townsend Sr.; his brother, Andrew (Amanda); and his sister, Nancy (Jason), and his niece Kelsey.

Visitation hours will be held in memory of CJ Townsend at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Thursday, March 26 from 6-8 PM.

Guestbook

  1. My son Garrett was a student of Mr. Townsend’s at Kent Gardens in 2003. To this day, he will tell you that Mr. Townsend was his favorite teacher. He gave Garrett an enthusiasm for history like no other teacher. Our family is honored to have known him and have him be a part of our son’s life.

  2. My deepest sympathy to the family. May the God of all comfort give you peace at this difficult time. And His promise of being reunited with our loved ones on a paradise earth where “death will be no more” Rev 21:4

  3. My condolences to the Townsend family. I was so sorry to hear of Cecil’s passing. I wish I had heard sooner, so I could have paid my respects in person. May he rest peacefully.
