William Edward Davis, Sr., 85, of Vienna, VA passed away peacefully in his home on December 8, 2025.
Born June 5, 1940 in Lexington, Virginia, he was the son of Robert Washington Davis, Sr. and Elizabeth Mae Smiley Davis who preceded him in death.
Known to all as Bill, he attended high school in Augusta County and later obtained an associate’s degree from Northern Virginia Community College. At 18, Bill enlisted in the United States Army and was ultimately stationed at the Pentagon in Washington DC. Following his military service and college, Bill owned and operated his own electronics and television repair company for over 40 years.
Bill grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and was as at home on a farm as he was in the city. He especially enjoyed playing softball and coaching his children’s teams. He was an active presence in youth sports in Vienna, serving as President of the VPPL for many years. Bill was a tinkerer who loved to work with his hands and was happiest in his shop working on projects and making repairs. He had a special affinity for rebuilding classic cars and restored several vintage Chevrolets to their former glory.
Bill lived a life marked by devotion to both his family and community. He was a kind and attentive neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand when and where he could. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, easygoing nature, and quick wit.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julia Ann Rochford Davis, his son William Edward, Jr. (Eddie) of Williamsburg, Va, his daughter Carol-Lynn of Washington DC, and many beloved family members including in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Washington. Davis, Jr. of Staunton, Va, and Gayland Randolph Davis of Raphine, Va.

Bill and I first met at Northern Virginia Community College studying Electronics Technology. We also managed to party on weekends. After graduation Bill started his TV Repair business and I went into the US Navy. After I was discharged from the Navy we both lived in the same town. I will always remember Bill’s exciting laugh and playing jokes from time-to-time. My thought and prayers go out to his family.
