William Robert Hill Jr
November 2, 1964 ~ March 10, 2026
William Robert Hill, Jr., 61, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away suddenly from cardiac arrest on March 10, 2026.
Bill was born in 1964 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania to William and Anna Hill. After graduating from Jefferson Morgan High School in 1982, and after serving as a Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company in Greene County, Pennsylvania, Bill moved to Virginia in hopes of becoming a Fireman with Fairfax County but was unable to obtain one of the few coveted spots applied for by dozens of others.
In 1984, at his brother-in-law’s suggestion, Bill walked into Ferguson Enterprises, in Herndon, Virginia where the Dulles Corridor was starting to boom, and filled out an application for employment. After wearing many hats over the next 40 years in sales and management, Bill retired from Ferguson in May 2024 and anxiously awaited the retirement of his Chris.
Bill met his wife, Chris, in 1986, bought their Fairfax home in 1991 and subsequently wed in 1992, going on to have their beloved daughter, Meredith, in 1996.
Bill grew up in Greene County, Pennsylvania, where he kept close family ties, stayed connected with childhood friends through Facebook, and remained interested in his hometown’s news.
Since retirement, Bill enjoyed his daily walks with their dog DJ, tinkering in his workshops, playing in his shuffleboard league and visits with Meredith and his new son-in-law, Ronnie. He, Chris and the family were looking forward to frequent travel, including more time at their cherished home in the Outer Banks of NC, preferably with the Jeep’s top down. Amongst many other things, Bill was a dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan, an expert at the grill, and a devoted dad to Meredith as well as their many pets over the years.
Bill was predeceased by his parents William Robert Hill, Sr. and Anna Louise (Lorence) Hill, as well as four brothers-in-law. Bill is survived by his wife, Christine (Hamm) Hill, daughter Meredith (Hill) Browning and son-in-law, Ronald (Ronnie) Eugene Browning, Jr. of Galena, Maryland, sisters Cindy Stanton, Sue Shultz and Chris Lenhoff, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy, I recall so many good times and fond memories growing up with family in Mather. My mom, Mary and Aunt Annie were very close and we spent many weekends there. Uncle Bill, was a favorite of mine. I big hearted man and aunt Annie with her soft tender caring nature.
Although we became distant through the years not by disassociation, but by families going different directions with each of our lives with work and family. It doesn’t surprise me what a good man you turned out to be with such a wholesome upbringing with Dad and mom, Cindy, Sue, and Chris. I’m sorry I didn’t spend more time with you through the years. God will carry your soul and take care of you.
Bill
My sincere condolences and prayers to Chris, Meredith, Ronnie and extended family members and relatives. I’m so very sorry for your loss, I was rocked to my core when I heard this news last week. I had the pleasure and was honored to work with Bill for over 30 years. Bill was an awesome individual and although he will be dearly missed here in this life, Heaven is a better place now that Bill is there. RIP BILL ! 🙏
We are more sorry that we can say to hear that Bill has passed on. Your family was such a big part of our family with softball, fun times with the girls and the beach. Bill is missed.
David and Vicki Hudson
Words cannot express how much you will be missed little brother. I remember when you were born the best baby ever. I’ll remember the summers you spent in Virginia with Ron and I and when you and Ron added the bedroom downstairs when you lived with us. My life will be empty without you, but give Ron a hug from me when you see him. All of my favorite men are in heaven. Dad, Ron, Ike, Mr. Ham, and now you. I will watch over your girls and always be there for them.
Love you
Cindy
We are so sorry to hear of your loss of Bill. We enjoyed many jovial conversations at the Moose and of course being such great, close neighbors of your dad and mom; (they were the best) not to forget your brother whom I had known for years prior to meeting you. We may have moved on to SC but Oakton will always be in our hearts! Be strong my friend, and remember: Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened. Hugs to you and your daughter Kelcy and Daryl
