Christopher Scott Spagnoli was born December 23rd, 1994, at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia, and peacefully passed away in his sleep at the same hospital on Friday, September 16th, 2022, at approximately 6:00am.

Christopher’s closed-casket viewing will be Thursday, September 22nd from 5:00pm to 8:00pm EST at Money & King Funeral Home located at 171 West Maple Ave, Vienna, VA 22180. His funeral and Mass will be the following morning, Friday, September 23rd, at 11:00am EST at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church located at 8601 Wolftrap Road, Vienna, VA 22182. We will then proceed to Fairfax Memorial Park & Funeral Home located at 9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA 22032 for his interment.

Christopher lived a joyous life with his mother, Laura M. Spagnoli (née Pagán), his father, Scott D. Spagnoli, and his brother, Alexander J. Spagnoli in Annandale, Virginia until 2012 when the Spagnoli Family moved to Vienna, Virginia to a home which was best suited for Christopher’s special needs. His Grandparents, Charlotte J. Spagnoli and Joseph Spagnoli, also showed so much love, affection, and commitment to Christopher throughout their lives.

Christopher was known by everyone who met the Spagnoli Family. His family always made a concerted effort to make sure Christopher could participate in their lives in every way possible. His parents had an incredible sense of how to anticipate Christopher’s needs, making sure he always had everything he needed to be as happy as can be.

Christopher loved to go out to eat with his family. One of his favorite restaurants was The Esposito’s Fairfax Italian restaurant, where owner Maria Esposito and chef Giacchino, a.k.a. ‘Giac,’ always made sure that Christopher was spoiled with the best Italian food a boy could ask for. The Spagnoli family is extremely thankful for all the local businesses that showed so much love to Christopher.

Christopher also loved to travel. Every year, the Spagnoli family would bring Christopher to Puerto Rico to visit Laura’s family on the island. Christopher would join his aunts, uncles, and cousins for Puerto Rican meals, trips to the beach, and lounging on open-air patios where he enjoyed the company of his wonderfully loving extended family. His favorite trip activity was sitting on the beach watching the waves roll in, then out, then back in, then back out, and appreciating every moment the water crept closer and closer to touch his feet. Christopher may not have been able to walk far in his youth and lost the ability to walk when he was older, but when he was on the beach... it was like he was flying.

However, Christopher’s true passion was film. He had many favorites; but he particularly loved The Land Before Time series, the Winnie the Pooh series from the 1970s to the 1990s, and Marco Andreacchio’s ‘Napoleon’ from 1995. Napoleon was a special film for Christopher and for his brother, Alexander, as it instilled the sense of adventure that both Christopher and Alexander have. The Spagnoli family would like to acknowledge the absolute joy that these films brought to Christopher and to the entire family.

Christopher’s abilities were often misunderstood, but he always found ways to prove how capable he truly was. The Spagnoli family was told he would never walk, yet he took his first steps. They were told Christopher would hold them back from living a full life, yet they lived some of the most rewarding lives because of Christopher's presence. They were told Christopher could not understand or communicate with others, yet if you took the time and looked into his eyes, you knew exactly how he felt and knew what he needed.

Christopher is a pillar of the Spagnoli family ethos. If anyone reading this has a son, daughter, sibling, in-law, grandchild, or any other family member with special needs, they understand the beauty of sharing life with purity and innocence incarnate. He is no longer struggling, and will always be a reminder to us that life can be as beautiful and full of love as you make it.
