Mary Diane Harshbarger (Diane) age 82 passed peacefully on the morning of August 1, 2021. Diane is predeceased by husband, Ronald Earl Harshbarger. She is survived by brother John Michael Watson, by son Douglas Harshbarger and wife Michelle Harshbarger and by daughter Laura Alexander and husband Brian Alexander. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Moriah Claire Harshbarger, Evan Harshbarger, Ronald Harshbarger, Hannah Alexander and Eric Alexander.

Diane was born on January 8, 1939 in Witchita, Kansas. Diane attended Kansas State University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Diane met and married husband Ronald E. Harshbarger in 1965 while teaching in California. Ron and Diane relocated from California to New Jersey in 1968.

Diane taught elementary school in Colorado, Germany, and California, but spent most of her teaching career at Irene E. Feldkirchner Elementary School in Green Brook, New Jersey, in the same town where she lived for 41 years. She retired in 2006 after 30 years of teaching. Diane was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Dunellen, NJ for over 45 years singing in the choir, teaching and serving as a Deacon.

Diane relocated from Green Brook, New Jersey to Potomac Falls, Virginia in 2014. She had been a member of the Vienna Presbyterian Church and the community of Central Parke at Lowe’s Island since moving to Virginia.

Diane was a voracious reader and world traveler. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, play bridge, attend Bible study, watch old movies and go to the theatre. She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 6, 2021 at the Money & King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, Va., from 6-8 PM. A memorial service is being held on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 10 AM at Vienna Presbyterian Church, 124 Church Street NE, Vienna, Va. Graveside service and internment at Hillside Cemetery 1401 Woodland Ave, Scotch Plains, NJ on August 9, 2021 at 12 PM.
