Jean S. Rose of Oakton, Virginia passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2020.

She is survived by her three children Deborah Good, Kimberly Skinder, and Terry Rose; three grandchildren Justin Good, Rebecca Laryea, and Heather Haley; and nine great-grandchildren Saniyah Thompson, Travis Thompson, Mia Laryea, Milani Laryea, Maizey Laryea, Bruce Haley, Bradley Haley, Abram Haley, and Ashton Haley. She was preceded in death by her husband Eldridge F. Rose.

Born and raised in Hanging Rock, West Virginia, Jean moved to the Northern Virginia area at 16, where she took her first job at the 29 Diner on Lee Highway in Fairfax. While there, she met the love of her life and future husband Irv, and began her long career in the Federal government. She worked and traveled the world until her second retirement.

After Jean’s retirement she delighted in bowling, raising orchids, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was an active member of the Oakton Church of the Brethren and the Trevor House Homeowners’ Association. She enjoyed following her favorite Washington-area teams, the Nationals and the Redskins, as well as being a good luck charm at her own family’s sporting events. She could also be found walking through her neighborhood on most mornings, rain or shine.

A visitation and service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Money & King funeral home in Vienna. The visitation will be held from 6:00 pm- 7:00 pm, with a brief service beginning at 7:00 pm. Burial will be private.

Jean will be remembered for her kindness and her willingness to help others, from chauffeuring her family members to physical therapy appointments after numerous injuries to baking her family’s favorite sugar cookies and candy for special occasions.

The family welcomes flowers or donations to the American Heart Association.
