Kathleen Elizabeth McCartney

Kathleen Elizabeth McCartney was born in New York City and moved to Yonkers, NY at the age of 11. She went on to get her LPN degree from Seton College, Yonkers, N.Y. and started her career as a nurse. She relocated to Northern Virginia to be close to her nieces and nephews. She had many faithful years at The Hospital for Sick Children where she met and eventually adopted her daughter, Sherri Marie Corbin, who became the joy of her life. After Sherri’s passing, she found hope and deep connection with The Compassionate Friends where she was also able to support many others over the years through their loss.

Fondly known as AK, she was predeceased by her parents Geraldine (Maher) and Arthur McCartney and her daughter Sherri Marie Corbin. She is survived by her brothers, Michael (Margaret) and Mark (Miki). Beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews, Meaghan (Barry) Stoner, Sean (Kate) McCartney, Colleen (Eric McDonald) McCartney, Ryan (Melissa) McCartney, Angel McCartney, and Jose McCartney, as well as 5 grand nieces and 4 grand nephews. We all take comfort in knowing we have a special angel watching over us now.

The family will receive friends on Friday December 6, 2019 10 am at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church 11900 Lawyers Rd, Reston, VA 20191,

A memorial mass will be held at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church at 11 am with a private family inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
