Manuel Yabut Marbella

December 5, 1947 to May 6, 2019

Manuel (Manny) Marbella was born in Manila, Philippines on December 5, 1947. With his mother – Lucilia Marbella - he immigrated to Los Angeles, CA in 1969. He married the love of his life, Aida Gabayan Marbella, in 1972. Together, they raised two daughters and Manny proudly spoke about them at every opportunity.

Manny served in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Class First Officer (PO1-E6), and his career took his family to San Diego, CA; Virginia Beach, VA; and overseas to Italy. He retired in 1993 after serving over 20 years. Family was the center of his life, and he easily made friends wherever he went. His loyalty to both was unwavering. Manny will be remembered for his big heart and smile, and a laugh you could hear across the room. With his wife by his side, he passed away on May 6, 2019.

His legacy of love includes his beloved wife of over 47 years, Aida Marbella; his two daughters and sons in-law: Virginia Marbella Damron and Trey Damron, and Margaret Marbella Woods and Stephen Woods; and his two granddaughters, Clara and Violet Woods.

Relatives and friends are invited to Manny's Life Celebration at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Thursday May 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Road, Reston, VA on Friday May 17 at 11:30 am.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. When someone we love dies, it’s natural to want to see that person again. God promises us that He will comfort us in our trials if we go to him in prayer. 2 Corinthians 1:3 calls him the God of all comfort. I’d like to share with y’all this link that shows 12 steps on coping with grief that is good for sharing. I have personally found this very comforting and I hope y’all do as well. https://www.jw.org/finder?wtlocale=E&docid=102018086&srcid=share

  2. I’m sorry for your loss. Cherish the many memories of times spent together and may you be comforted by the words in Acts 24:15.
