Obituary for Mary Ann Smore

Mary Ann (Rabatin) Smore was born on June 1, 1942 to Francis (Frank) and Margaret Rabatin in Fairchance, PA. She passed peacefully on January 3, 2019.

Mary Ann devoted 40 years to her much-cherished career in civil service, spending 23 years in administrative services with the Central Intelligence Agency and an additional 17 years as a government contractor. Mary Ann was a highly respected worker; known for her for confidence, strong work ethic, determination and a strong “train me and I can do anything” mentality.

Preceded in death by parents Francis (Frank) and Margaret Rabatin and brother in-law Roland Warren. She leaves behind to cherish her beloved spirit her husband of 54 years, Stephen C. Smore Jr.; her sister Carolyn (Rabatin) Warren; her daughter Cheryl (Smore) Monahan (Bob); her son Stephen C. Smore III (Mia); her granddaughters Erin and Alison Monahan; her nephews Greg and Brian Warren and a wide range of admiring friends and colleagues.

Mary Ann Lived to Love… her family, friends and life itself. Collaborating with her sister to support their father’s passing and their mother’s dementia. Cherishing her husband’s heart and championing his career, art and talents. Constantly cheerleading and counseling her children and grandchildren. Showering them with love, heartfelt advice and abundant generosity. Enjoying the camaraderie of her colleagues. Engaging in charismatic conversation--with family, friends and strangers alike. Practicing yoga, tap-dancing, being impeccably fashionable, dearly loving her three bichon fur babies, planning and cooking perfect family meals, living by her faith and always embracing the power of prayer and positive thinking.

She leaves a legacy of positivity, generosity and love.
