Nancy S. Kelly

Nancy passed away January 23, 2021 at her home. She was born April 30, 1949, in Elkins, West Virginia to Jack Flynn Kelly and Molly Carter (Anderson) Kelly

Nancy attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Nancy was predeceased by John Duncan Anthony, her husband of 22 years and will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville, VA. Nancy is survived by three brothers, John A Kelly (Laura), Joseph P Kelly, and Jeffrey C Kelly (Becky).

Nancy went to work for PhRMA in Washington, DC in September 2005. She was the Sr. Director of Facilities. She was passionate about her work and scoffed at the word “retirement,” working up until her final days.

Nancy loved spending time with family, reading books, and spending time with her two delightful dogs, Anabel and Sally. Her avid love of dogs reached far beyond her home. She was very involved in Marty’s Place, a senior dog rescue and sanctuary in Freehold Township, New Jersey (martysplace.org).

Nancy was beloved by many and touched the lives of countless people. The outpouring of support she received from family, friends, and co-workers was nothing short of astonishing during her battle with cancer. Her mantra during this trying time was, “I am stronger than I feel,” and she maintained an extremely brave and positive outlook even during her difficult struggle. She left us with shattered hearts, but at the same time, we will always know the love that she had for us.

It would mean the world to Nancy if instead of flowers, you would donate to Marty’s Place.

    • Nancy was one of the cousins I didn’t know I had until several years ago. I loved her the moment I met her and Rob and I had some hilarious laughs with Nancy and Becky. It was a blessing to know her, even though it was too short a time. Love and condolences to Jeff, Becky and Nancy’s family.

  2. I am so sorry for your / our loss of Nancy. I know that loves lives on in memory. She shared a love of funky eyewear and wacky art with me. I was so grateful for that. She was my mom’s bestest friend, and she became like family to our small family. I enjoyed many meals and holidays with Nancy, her family, and some of her friends. How many times did she call me “sweepea”?… and she was so understanding and always saw the best in me, when I wasn’t able to see it in myself. Nancy had a FAB sense of humor and I loved to hear her laugh. She was so easy to be around. I love her, and I will really miss her. I’m so sorry for your loss, Nancy’s family. She was a powerhouse of love.

  3. My heart is severely broken. I miss the “adventures” with my bestest bud each week before COVID and those we looked forward to after COVID. Nancy was a good friend to many, but her greatest love was the canine world. It’s a great loss to all of us. I pray her family feels the love pouring out to them. ❤️

  4. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. We all lost someone very special. There was a nobody quite like Nance. She was caring, compassionate, honest, funny, and one of the most generous people I have ever met. I will miss the sound of her laughter. I will miss her wonderful stories. I will miss her singing happy birthday to me. I will miss her voice calling me sweet-pea. I will miss her until we meet again. It was an honor to be your friend. Rest In Peace, Nance. Love you lots.

  5. With loving memories of Nance. Our friendship spanned over 50 years & there are no words to describe the loss. She was a beautiful soul.

  6. To Nancy’s family: Nancy worked as an integral part of my team at PhRMA from the time she joined us through my retirement in 2015 and then beyond. Your words posted here ring so true. Nancy absolutely got things done, and it was a pleasure to have her around. I offer you my deepest sympathies. This is a terrible loss in the midst of an already difficult time for everyone. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Del Persinger

  7. Thinking of all of Nancy’s family and friends and sending my condolences. Nancy was such a generous and kind soul and we all will miss her terribly but her memories will linger forever. May God bless and comfort each and every one of you during this difficult time. Love, Scotty

  8. Nancy, May God rest your beautiful soul in peace!!! You were such a beautiful person inside and out. You will be missed by many of us in PhRMA.

  9. I had the honor and privilege of working beside Nancy for over five years. While she was an exemplary employee, she was an even better person. She had a heart of gold and a courageous spirit. While she struggled with a terrible and debilitating disease, she continued to work and engage with her PhRMA colleagues, without complaint. I will always consider myself blessed to have known her. To her family, my deepest condolences. How difficult it must be to lose such a kind and caring soul. May she rest in peace.
