Robert Karl Sterbutzel, 46, of Oak Hill, Virginia passed away on September 15th, 2021.

Rob was born on June 30, 1975 in Cumberland, Maryland to Joseph and Diane Sterbutzel. Rob grew up in Old Fields, West Virginia and in Vienna, Virginia, and after graduating from Madison High School in 1993 he went on to study Business and Economics at West Virginia University. Rob worked as an IT Specialist in Tysons Corner before moving to New York City to work for Telsey Advisory Group in 2004. In 2012 he met Shelly Buzzerd and in 2020 they wed. Rob was devoted, generous, reliable, knowledgeable, thrill-seeking, fun-loving, charming, and appealingly daring. We will remember his intelligence, his pride in his dogs, and his passion for riding fast motorcycles at challenging tracks.

Rob is survived by his wife Shelly Buzzerd, and their beloved Lab Luna; his mother, Diane Sterbutzel; his three brothers, Matt Sterbutzel, Peter (Alicia) Sterbutzel, and Jan (Katherine) Sterbutzel and four nephews and one niece. Rob was predeceased by his father, Joseph Sterbutzel.

A celebration of life will be held in his honor at the home of his brother, Jan Sterbutzel in Reston, VA on September 25th from 11 to 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please direct dedicated gifts in Rob’s memory to the New Skete Monasteries in Cambridge, New York. Rob loved German Shepherds and agreed with this group’s philosophies for living with, raising, and training dogs.
