Beverly Ann Schlie

Beverly Ann Schlie of Reston, succumbed to her battle with cancer on October 24, 2017. She lived in the Northern Virginia area for most of her adult life. Beverly was born at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. While growing up in Northern Virginia, she developed a love of horses, which would stay with her throughout het life. She was a huge animal lover, with a soft spot for rescue dogs, in particular, Cairn Terriers. After graduating from Mt. Vernon High School in Alexandria, Va., she attended the Washington School for Secretaries in DC. This led to a secretarial position with the United States Government, where she worked as a Special Assistant for over 35 years. Her career took her overseas to the Asia/Pacific region for a number of years, with the majority of her work life being spent in the Northern Virginia area. She had the opportunity to be a part of several newly established departments in the government during the 70’s and 80’s, which she always said was the best and most exciting time to work for the government.

She was the epitome of grace in the face of fear and an example of someone who never allowed her illness to define her. She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Beverly is survived by her father, Colonel Walter Schlie, USAF-Ret, sister, Pamela Schlie Ross (Glenn) and her nephew, Walter R. Schlie. She was pre-deceased by her mother, Norma Schlie, brother Lt. Kenneth M. Schlie (KIA in Vietnam) and sister-in-law, Patricia Schlie. No formal services are planned at this time. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, please send any donations to to your choice of an animal rescue in honor of Beverly Schlie. The online guestbook is available at www.moneyandking.com

  1. I was so blessed to be your nephew. You were always there for me with open arms. You got through some very difficult times despite what you were dealing with. I really think that you were one of God’s Angels. I will miss you till I see you again.
