Mark Dudley Taylor
May 3, 1956 – August 9, 2018
Mark D. Taylor, 62, of Manassas, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly in his home on August 9. 2018. Mark was a man who couldn’t sit still. He loved being outside, working on anything, starting and not finishing home projects, and being at a race track. He was a two-time national champion at karting’s highest level with multiple regional and local track championships. He was devoted to his home kart club, The Woodbridge Kart Club, of which he worked as a tech inspector for over 30 years. Mark was a kind soul who never met a stranger. He would start a conversation with anyone that would take the time to look at him. Mark enjoyed being with his children and especially his granddaughters and was recently looking forward to traveling with his fiancé Trina and their beloved dog Ovi in their travel trailer.
Mark is preceded in death by his father Warren G. Taylor. He is survived by his mother Allimaye C. Taylor; his fiancé Katrina Schaetz; son Brandon Mark Taylor and wife Ashley; daughter Kendra Lynn Ballantine and husband Sean; and his granddaughters (of which he was most proud) Solara Lynn Ballantine, Aleera Faye Ballantine, and Ella Jean Taylor. Also surviving are his siblings Jeff Taylor and wife Ruth; sister Lisa Taylor Golden and husband Glenn along with nieces and nephews and many, many special friends. Finally, he is survived by faithful companions, his dog Ovi and cat Chance.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 from 5-8pm at Money and King Funeral home in Vienna, Virginia. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Vienna Seventh Day Adventist Church at 11:00am with graveside service to follow. Mark was always happiest at the track and he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family there and always with a smile. He was very proud of his children and always had a smile. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Bill, Dedra, Daytona and Indy.
Mark was a one of a kind! He found his nitch in the sport of karting from racing to engine building to being a tech. He was always warm and welcoming to everyone. Along with all his family and friends his karting family has suffered a tremendous loss. RIP Mark you are loved and will be missed. MaryAnn and John Fisher.
I had gone to school with Mark,at the Vienna Junior Academy.And when I read ,that he had passed in 2018 and reading about the passing of his mother Allimaye Taylor. I was surprised and felt sad. But, his legacy lives ,on in his children and grandchildren. Gods Blessing !
We want to extend our sincere condolences to the entire Taylor family on the passing of Mark. We have known Mark for about 30 years and lived across the road from his family. Mark was always willing to help out in any way he could. He would always share his vegetables that he grew in his back yard. He was also a good mechanic. We watched as his children grew up to be amazing, beautiful adults. He will be missed by all who knew him. May God’s peace and love abound during this difficult time. Sorry to hear this news. Haven’t seen or talked to Mark in a long time, but we were good friends years ago in our days together at Fairfax County. He was fun to be around and we had some good times on his boat and doing other things. He comes from a very good family and I know was very much loved. May God give his family the strength to get through their loss, and may we meet again some day in the great palace in the sky. Vic Brown
In over thirty years of kart racing there was rarely an event without Mark. He will forever be in our hearts and mind.

During this difficult time, we would like to thank-you all for your kind words of support and the great stories you tell about Mark, because we all know THERE WERE MANY! Whether you remember him from his days at Fairfax County, Karting, being his neighbor, or had the privilege to call him your son, brother, fiance’, father, Pappy, uncle or maybe just friend. . . he loved us all. Mark was larger than life and lived each day without limitations and always ready for the next adventure. His passing has left a huge hole in our hearts that really cannot be filled. Seeing Mark at the end of a long race day was always a joyous occasion. He would always congratulate you on a win or a good finish. Then he’d make you tear your engine apart for a few tense moments of inspection followed by stories and laughter. We shared some good times and it was clear he was very passionate about Karting. I only knew Mark for a few years but I will miss him dearly.
May you rest in peace Mark. I was an honor……
