Marlene Hyacinthe Rives, 83, of Vienna, Virginia passed away March 19, 2018 at Brightview Assisted Living in Great Falls, Virginia. She passed peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, March 31st, at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 West Maple Avenue, Vienna, Virginia. Burial services will be held privately at another time.
Marlene was born in Washington, DC to Madeline and Rousseau Frey Rives on May 10, 1934. She attended and graduated from Falls Church High School. She was a long-time resident of Vienna and worked for the CIA for 52 years. Marlene was a devoted grandmother and an avid gardener who loved Elvis, card playing, and visiting Atlantic City.
She is preceded in death by her daughters Rhonda Pleasant and Robin Caldwell.
Marlene is survived by her daughter Brenda Bromley (Michael), her brother Donald Rives (Joyce), and her grandchildren: Sara Herr, Michael Bromley II, (Maryteresa), Daniel Bromley, Zachary Bromley, April Bromley, Kayla Bromley, Austin Caldwell, Garrett Caldwell, Melissa Pape, Karen Walraven, Jessica Muggeridge, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, New York 10001

Marlene was my great aunt. She loved Elvis and her family. A memory I have of my great aunt is when I was at giant with friends she came around the corner windows down Elvis blasting and we made eye contact laughed and smiled at each other. I’ll forever cherish that moment. As well as the countless family dinners at her wonderful house. Marlene was a great woman.
Brenda and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I will never forget that Marlene helped get my first job. I think she could see how painfully shy I was and decided to help me. That was such a kind act. Im so thankful to her! I admired that she was such a strong independent women. She was a good role model for women ! Love to Brenda and all of the family! Penny
Dear Brenda and family, I worked with your mom for many years in Herndon. Actually I’m still seeing stuff that she did. She’s in God’s hands now after many years of suffering. I remember the Elvis cassettes being played! Prayers for your family.
