John Cianflone

John was born in Cicala, Italy on April 8, 1928. His father Joseph was already living in New York and had an apartment ready for John, his mother and sister to join him in the USA. They arrived in New york City when John was five years old. The family settled in a well established Italian community in Staten Island where John grew up and went to school. After high school he joined the military and was part of the occupation forces in Japan in 1946 for two years. Back in civilian life he worked for the government and through relatives met his wife Ann. They married in St. Joan of Arc Church Jackson Heights, NYC in 1955 and this past year celebrated 62 years ofmarriage



Upon his retirement from the govt. he continued to work in the computer field until his death from a heart attack on August 18th. John is survived by his wife Ann and their four children, Irene , Maria, Joseph and Christine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Athanasius Catholic Church on Monday August 21 at 10am with interment to follow at Andrew Chapel Cemetery.
