Anna Mae Corcoran

U.S. Army nurse and beloved wife of LTG (Ret.) Charles Allen Corcoran of McLean, VA died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 21, 2010. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Nan graduated from David B. Oliver High School in 1935, received her nursing certification from Mercy Hospital, PA in 1939 and served in the Army Nurse Corps from 1939-1941. Nan and Charlie were wed on September 14, 1941 in Indiantown Gap, PA and Nan spent 32 years as an Army wife living in Louisiana, Texas, Washington, Germany, Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington DC, France, Colorado, the Phillippines and Hawaii.
While Charlie served his country in three wars and with frequent and numerous relocations, Nan raised four sons, all of whom later served in the U.S. Army. Nan has been a resident of McLean, VA and a parishioner of St. Luke Catholic Church since her husband's military retirement in 1973.
In addition to her husband of 68 years, she is survived by son, Charles Allen Patrick and wife, Susan of Parrish, FL; son, Timothy Michael and wife, Patricia of Oakton, VA; daughter-in-law Linda Corcoran Chaney and husband Bruce Chaney of Lebanon, TN; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna Love; step-mother, Florence McNamara Love; sister, Regina Schue; step-sister, Eileen Carey, and two beloved sons, Dennis Edward and Sean Kevin.

Charlie – Larry and I were sorry to hear of Nan’s passing. Our prayers are with you. We remember with fondness our excursion to the Inn at Little Washington with the two of you many years ago. Nan was always fun to be with.
