Roland W. Sullivan

December 4, 1921 ~ June 16, 2011
Died June 16, 2011 after a long illness. He was born in Aurora, MO and served with the U. S. Army Engineers in the Mediterranean Theatre for 29 months. In 1950, he graduated from the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering. Sully served as a District Engineer in the Eastern Mapping Center for the U. S. Geological Survey until his retirement in 1980. During his career with USGS, he moved 54 times serving in the Western, Mid-Continent, Rocky Mountain, Southern and Eastern Mapping Centers while overseeing specialized field surveys. In retirement, he devoted over 13 years as a dedicated Outreach Volunteer and in computer development for Widowed Persons Service of Northern Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Audrey Sullivan; three step daughters, Pam Kerr of Wilmette, IL, Deborah Snite of Cumberland Foreside, ME and Donnell Mersereau of Grand Haven, MI. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Selvo Sullivan of Hibbing, MN who died in 1997. Services and interment private.
