Kikuko Aoyama passed away in her sleep, during the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at her home in Manassas, Virginia. Kikuko was born on March 30, 1934, in Kyoto, Japan. Daughter of Dr. Kikugoro Nishimura and Fujie Suzuki Nishimura. Preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Dr. Jiro Nishimura and Ichiro “Mike” Nishimura. Kikuko is survived by her son Mitsuo Aoyama of Arlington, Virginia; children from her husband’s first marriage: Shogo Aoyama of Akron, Ohio; George Aoyama of Canton, Ohio; and Holly Fair (Aoyama) of San Diego, California; and numerous nephews and nieces. Kikuko graduated from Japan Woman’s College. She was a ‘free-spirited woman’ who enjoyed travelling to foreign countries and experiencing different cultures. Kikuko left Japan in 1967 for the U.S.A., to marry Shogo Aoyama. In the U.S., Kikuko helped raise her husband’s three children (Shogo, George, and Holly), and their son Mitsuo. Over the years, Kikuko learned American customs and traditions, and became a self-employed business owner, homeowner, rental property owner, and an American Citizen. She enjoyed playing the piano, listening to Japanese Enka singers, and playing poker.

  1. Sending hugs and comfort to my cousin Mickey❤️? My Aunt Kiko was an independent, hard-working lady! She raised her family & she was a successful business owner. I’m going to miss her and the times I was invited to dinner at her home to catch up (she was a wonderful cook). She loved champagne & cream puffs. I’m certainly going to have some in her honor. Godspeed Aunt Kiko ? ???❤️ Rest easy until we meet again ??❤️

  2. Mick, my deepest condolences for the loss of your mom. She had a warm kind heart. I remember when I went to your house after school for the first time to check out all of your music and meeting her for the first time. She was as short as my mom and made me feel so welcome. May she rest in peace.
