Michael Steven Juhasz
June 3, 1923 - November 29, 2010
Michael Juhasz was born in Kerepes, Hungary. He was an avid Boy Scout and soccer player. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering in Budapest. In 1948, on Christmas Eve, under snow and gunfire, he escaped Communist Hungary, fled to Austria, and emigrated to Canada. He worked in Trois Rivieres, Quebec, as an engineer and learned English from local children. In 1950, he married Ethel J. Backer in Windsor, Ontario, who preceded him in death. From Windsor, he moved to Detroit, worked for Park Metal Products Company, then formed JEMCO (Juhasz Electrical Materials Company) and became a manufacturer's representative in the Washington, D.C. area, supplying equipment for the Kennedy Center and the Watergate. He was an avid golfer and participated in several Bob Hope Desert Classics, and has been a member of Westwood Country Club since 1964. His Hungarian heritage was a great source of pride and he was often heard singing Hungarian folk songs accompanied by his ever-present harmonica. He is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Carmen O. Alvarado; his daughters Irene and Rita Juhasz; his step-daughter Carmen Chomchird (A.J.), and grandchildren Emily Perry Wilson (Robbie), Joseph and Nicholas Juhasz-Lukomski; and Christopher, Daisy and Alex Chomchird.

Irene, Having come to know your father, at least a little bit, through you, I know he’ll be greatly missed. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
To Irene and family: Though I never had the privalege of meeting Mr. Juhasz, I know that he was dearly loved and will be missed by many. May God give you and your family peace and comfort during this difficult time.
Irene, The loss of a parent is never easy but knowing that your Dad is no longer suffering will help ease your pain. He is a peace now and will be watching over you, your sister, his grandchildren and his wife. You didn’t lose your Dad, you gained a Guardian Angel. I love you and pray that your pain will soon be replaced by the wonderful memories of your Dad.
Irene I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Father.Hugs and lots of love. Deborah and Bob Chapman
