Mary Lois Simmons, 84, of Vienna, Virginia, died Monday, June 20, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Sparrell Clayton Rakes and Rada Martin Rakes of Fairystone, Virginia. Husband Richard S. Simmons, daughter Tamera L. Collins, sister Ethel Via, and brothers Willis C. Rakes and Ralph Rakes predecease her.

Mary Lois is survived by daughters Montie K. Simmons, and Sheree (Kevin) O'Neil, and 5 grandchildren, Justine Amelia O'Neil, Riley (Sara) Simmons O'Neil, Bridget (Nicholas) Augusta Sanders, Matthew Nolen Collins and Emily Mary Collins. In addition, she leaves behind sister Vera Bryant, brother Chester E. Rakes, in-laws Mary Simmons, Wayne (Louise) Simmons, Hugh White, Jr., Linward S. (Carolyn) Simmons, Betty Lou Clark, son-in-law Dan Collins, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary Lois was a member of Fairfax Baptist Church for over 50 years. She particularly enjoyed serving her church as a Deacon and the Christian fellowship it afforded. Another lifelong pursuit was the game of tennis with her dear friends at Fairfax Racquet Club. She relished her time on the court and the fun and companionship that followed.

A memorial is planned for Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 at Fairfax Baptist Church, 10830 Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030. Online condolences and fond memories of Mary Lois may be offered to the family at www.moneyandking.com
