Caroline Rosaria Carnazza

June 9, 1937 ~ June 20, 2025
Born in:
Brooklyn, New York
Resided in:
Fairfax, Virginia
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our wife, mother, and grandmother,
Caroline Rosaria Carnazza (nee Letizia) on June 20, 2025. She was born in Brooklyn, New York in
1937 and met her husband, James, while a student at City College (CCNY). They married in
1964 and enjoyed 61 years of blessings together. They traveled to many distant places, enjoyed
the opera, and spent time at the boardwalk near their long time home of Rumson, New Jersey.
Caroline enjoyed doing needlepoint and cross stitch and was an avid gardener, tending to her
flowers, strawberries, and fig trees.
Caroline earned a master’s degree in education and had a lengthy successful career as an
elementary school teacher. Her students loved her and often expressed their fondness upon
crossing paths with her decades later.
Caroline is survived by her husband, James, her three children, Carolyn, Michael, and Christine
and their spouses, and six grandchildren with whom she shared her proud Italian heritage and
cherished her time. Caroline’s life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial on June 24,
2025, at 11:00 am at St. Mary of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Fairfax followed by a
graveside gathering at St. Mary of Sorrows Historic Church Cemetery in Fairfax Station. She will
be dearly missed but we are comforted by the knowledge that she is in the arms of her Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ, and is reunited with family and friends long passed
