On June 20th, after a long illness, Carris Vondal died peacefully in his home in Chantilly, Virginia.

Carris Leo Vondal was born on May 21, 1951 in Breckenridge, Minnesota to Leo and Myrtle Vondal. He grew up in Wahpeton, North Dakota. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1973 with a degree in Computer Science and from the University of Minnesota in 1976 with a degree in Mathematics. He married Mickey (Michelle Hausauer) in 1972. They lived in the Minneapolis area for twelve years while Carris worked for computer hardware manufacturers. They moved to Chantilly, Virginia in 1986, and it was there that they raised their two sons Matthew and Michael. Carris was employed by several computer software firms during this time, and he retired from BMC Software in 2022. Carris and Mickey have been longtime members of St. Athanasius Lutheran Church in Vienna, Virginia.

Carris is preceded in death by his father, Leo, and his mother, Myrtle, a baby brother, and a baby that Carris and Mickey lost through miscarriage. He is survived by his wife, Mickey; two sons, Matthew (Washington, DC) and Michael (Heidi, fiancée) of Aldie, Virginia, two grandchildren, Jocelyn and Dawson. He is also survived by four sisters: Karen Langendorfer (Earl) Casper, Wyoming, Vicki Williams (Mark) Casper, Wyoming, Dawn Anderson, Monticello, Minnesota, Paula Bakken (Brad) Wahpeton, North Dakota and one brother, Kevin Vondal (Barb) Wahpeton, North Dakota and their extended families.

A lifelong child of God, Carris will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and by many as a brother-in-Christ. He will be truly missed by all of us.
