I miss you granddad. It’s been a tough week but I know you are enjoying your new home up above. You are so beyond loved. You have been such an inspiration to many. Thank you for being the man you are. I think so often how thankful I am to have had so many opportunities to come visit. And to be able to bring my children. Though your great great grandson Ryder only has photos to look back on since he is so young, Riley knows you and loves you and I’m forever thankful.
Though seperated by 3000 miles, grandad you have always been an inspiration to me. I reflect often of how soft you would tickle my cheek with your “special arm” when I was young. How lucky i felt to have a grandad like you and so proud to be your granddaughter. Bringing my daughter to visit you and those special memories over the years. Wether it be celebrations you came to California to be apart of, or our trips to come to see you and all the tears, feeling with each goodbye as though it may be our last. We will meet again some day. I know you’re there in heaven to welcome the many soliders who have sacrificed there lives for our freedoms, as you have made physical sacrifices yourself. Thank you grandad. Your love, support and encouragement to so many over the 103 years you have shared with us. May the angels welcome you with a big American Flag and Marine welcome.
God has led your loved one home to a special place in heaven. With heartfelt sympathy it is my desire that you will find comfort in God’s promise of everlasting life.
We are glad that we got to know Mr. Byrd in our Greenbrier neighborhood in Fairfax, VA. He would come over and visit with Jimmy when he was working on cars in our garage. What a wonderful MAN. He loved his fishing and his grandson Jimmy. He was such an influence on Jimmy R. when he was younger and I know all his life. We know he is enjoying seeing all his family that are already in Heaven and will be waiting to see the rest of us when we get there. We love you Mr. Byrd and Jimmy Robinson’s family!!!!

I never had a grandfather so I’m thankful you would bless me by sharing yours with me. My heart goes out to the whole family and I am here if you need me .
Clyde and Ethel Byrd took me in as part of their family as a 20 year old sailor in 1958 while stationed in DC.. They were spiritual mentors to me and Jim, Brant, and Debra Sue were like brothers and sister to me. Many cherished memories. Wilmont McCrary, P. O. Box 1108, Sebring, FL 33871. Phone 863-385-0262.
