Daniel P. Bohan

daniel bohan
Daniel P. Bohan was born on August 13, 1940 to Marion Lennon Bohan and Daniel Bohan in New York City.

Throughout his career, Daniel has distinguised himself as an entrepreneur, visionary, serviceman, builder and businessman.

He received a degree in Psychology in 1962 from Manhattan College, where he was active in both the German Club and the rifle team. Soon after graduation, he joined the Air Force and was assigned to duty.

His last assignment brought him to the Washington D.C. area where he was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base in the late 60's. He loved the area around Washington and delighted in the town houses on Capitol Hill. He also took great joy in walking the vast land south of Washington D.C. in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania, Virginia and invested in property there. A teacher of real estate, he decided that the area would make an ideal setting for a career in real estate. Soon after he married Gloria Spinelli, they moved to Fredericksburg where he was quickly thrust into home building when a contractor whose homes he was selling suddenly died on the job.

Gloria and Dan settled in one of the homes and both began their life's work together in the area. The year was 1972. Dan was building homes and Gloria started a travel business. They shared an old English stone house as an office. They eventually decided the area was too far away from the "action", so today a different office of theirs stands on the busy road known as Plank Road or Route 3, in front of the Spotsylvania Mall.

Mr. Bohan established Omega Real Estate and Omega Organization, Builders and Developers while Gloria started Omega World Travel. During the 70's, Mr. Bohan built some 400 homes and developed Battle Park Lakes in Spotsylvania, Virginia.

When interest rates rose to over 18% in the late 70's and early 80's, Dan shifted his attention to the travel business that Gloria was operating. The travel business was also undergoing change in that it was being deregulated and new opportunities were emerging. Dan took great delight in helping Gloria to expand by searching for prime locations for travel offices around the greater Washington area. His construction crew shifted gears by building out and renovating offices using a modern design of low white counters and decor that distinguished the business from competitors and offered a consistent look for customer identification.

By 1982, Omega had expanded to eight locations in the Washington D.C., Virginia, and Maryland areas. At that time, the Government Accounting Office was conducting a test program to see how well private industry could service the government for official travel. This represented a real challenge to Dan who had been involved in proposal reviews and government forms while serving in the Air Force. He spearheaded Omega's entry into government travel and set the stage for a unique and pioneering role in furthering the growth of travel agents in serving government travelers.

Always looking to do something "exciting", Mr. Bohan saw the advantage in the early 80's of buying and selling airline coupons that some carriers were offering to travelers as incentives to fly on their airline. This was legal at the time and it helped Omega establish a loyal customer base that appreciated the chance to save money. His loyal and trusted building crew once again shifted gears and helped further the effort by buying coupons from travelers at airports. This effort gained Omega nationwide attention for innovation.

Dan continued to work closely with Gloria and the two formed a close partnership with Dan focused on sales and marketing, along with special projects. He quickly became well known in the travel business as an expert and visionary. Through the years, industry executives have credited him for his insight, creativity and ability to foresee future trends.

His talent and energy has helped to spark the growth of Omega World Travel into the fifth largest travel agency in the U.S. and more recently, Cruise.com, which has become the largest seller of cruises on the Internet. As a former cobol programmer, Daniel was intrigued with the Internet and encouraged Gloria to go along with the development of a travel technology company which is known as TravTech.

Dan grew up on Long Island where his father developed and built homes in Bellport, Bluepoint, Amityville and Westhampton Beach. Bohan senior was an early developer of beachfront property along Dune Road in the late 40's and sold homes along the ocean for $5, 000 and bayside for $4200. He was also considered a great visionary at that time for taking what was considered a risk in buying along the ocean. He and his wife, Marion, built and ran the Ocean Bay Apartments in the early 50's which Dan and Gloria today still operate in the village of Westhampton Beach. Daniel learned the building and real estate business from his father who also owned a real estate agency in Westhampton. He inherited his mother's outgoing personality and loved sales and meeting people. He was very proud of his mother's efforts as a Gray Lady during the war. Like her, he has always been energized by the challenges of new experiences and "Meet People" is a slogan he has promoted in business.

Dan loved the water as he grew up along the sandy dunes of Long Island. He learned to sail at an early age and always wanted to live near the water, whether it was the ocean or rivers. His mother and father loved to take him and his cousins in their Ford "tin lizzy" to Miami during the cold winters up north. Dan has continued to love winters down south. Gloria and Dan even had their wedding reception and honeymoon on a cruise ship. Love of water and cruising was not only the spark that ignited the idea for Omega, but also, for Cruise.com

While Dan has never tired of finding new things to challenge him in life, whether work or play, perhaps the thing that he values most is the respect and love that he has earned from his employees.

Dan has struggled for 6 years to overcome a brain injury sustained after heart surgery in 2004. His dramatic fight has inspired the medical community and his effort has helped those with traumatic brain injuries.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Gloria Spinelli Bohan; his cousins George Atwater, Susan and Joseph Sciareno; Doris and Jean Wells; Lucille and Jack O'Dwyer; niece and nephew, Christine and John O'Dwyer and many devoted friends.

Guestbook

  1. Dans spirit will continue to be an inspiration for our family until the end of times. We will keep his spirit alive for all the values Dan was standing for: courage, the most precious of all; honesty, especially in the way we communicate and put all the cards on the table (one of his favorites), creativity, of which he had like nobody else, family love, that he built to perfection, hand in hand with his beautiful wife, empathy, that he was always shy to admit or to accept gratitude for. May Dans spirit give us all even just a bit of his greatness and we know this world in which we are temporary passengers will be better.

  2. My wife and I both had the privilege of working with Dan and Gloria for the better part of 10 years. While Dan’s energy and passion would sometimes result in sparks, everyone knew it was never personal and respected the man immensely for that very same reason. He was always honest and you always knew what was on his mind. He was quick to anger and just as quick to forgive, apologize, admit an error, and forget. Truly unique in that way. He was quite visionary in his desire to use untapped resources and technologies to further the needs and meet the every growing technological and business requirements of the customers, and it was more than once that a proposed “idea”, originally met with scepticism, panned out to be the successful enterprise Dan envisioned. While Gloria was the face and heart of Omega World Travel, it cannot be disputed the Dan was the “man behind the curtain”, driving both himself and his employees to think outside the box and be much more than “travel agents”. His was a personality and unique character that my wife and I will remember fondly. We also wish Gloria peace and comfort now and in the future, and commend and honor her for the love and care she has given Dan since his initial and unfortunate illness. God bless.

  3. Dan was truly one of a kind. There were so many dimensions to his character. He was funny, analytical, demanding, ambitious, boisterous, but most of all he was caring. I have never really met someone with so much energy and passion for life and work. He and Glory have instilled those qualities in many of us who have had the good fortune to know them and work with them. The many opportunities they have provided people from so many walks of life is truly an inspiration and I for one will always be grateful for my opportunities. Dan, My friend, God bless you and rest in peace. You will be missed.

  4. The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. “No man is an island, entire of itself … any manʼs death diminishes me”. We are sorry for your loss.

  5. Dan, Gloria and Omega started as clients about 30 years ago. Over the years we wrestled with many difficult legal issues arising from airline deregulation. Dan saw opportunities for innovation, and as a result, Omega has a long list of “firsts” in the travel industry. I was always impressed by Dan’s keen analytical mind, his innovative approach to problems and his willingness to to stand up for what he believed right and fair. Over the years Dan and Gloria became more than clients; they became trusted friends. My wife and I spent many enjoyable hours with them on the golf course and numerous dinners where we were taken in by Dan’s depth of knowledge, sense of humor, compassion for others, generosity and overall joie de vivre. He is missed.

  6. Dan was a pioneer and visionary in the Travel Industry. His devotion and drive for excellence was personified in every project he took part in. He had an uncanny way of driving others to achieving success with him. He had many business successes over the 14 plus years I knew him. However, nothing impressed upon me more than watching Dan help others that were struggling from illness or other personal issues. He truly had a golden heart. I can tell many stories of his random acts of kindness to others that most people never knew because he never boasted of them. The Dan I knew started as my boss and grew into being a close friend. He will be dearly missed. Dan, God bless you and rest in peace. Anthony Hamawy

  7. Gloria – Dan’s character and reputation will live forever. We are proud to know both of you. God Bless you and family. Jim & Gladys Bowen

  8. It has been many years since I have seen you; but you and Dan are fresh in my mind as if it were just yesterday. I watched with awe and great respect as you grew your business from Skyline and far beyond. I am so sorry for your loss.

  9. Dear Gloria, I am so sorry to hear about Dan’s passing. He was a unique person. I will never forget meeting you and Dan. I enjoyed working with him when he first started out as a Realtor in Fredericksburg. He was a very innovative, agressive and hardworking person. We worked well together. When you moved back to Northern VA I missed seeing you and never forgot our times together. He will be missed by all who knew him. God Bless You, Nick

  10. Dear Gloria, …my deepest sympathy for your loss. Dan was a respected leader and visionary. I clearly understand what an inspiration he was to you and what an impact he made on your life. I am one of the lucky ones to have been mentored by the Bohans. John Pittman

  11. Gloria: We have many beautiful memories about you and Dan in the “old days” when Omega was just beginning. You and Dan both fought the good fight.

  12. Gloria, The first time I met you and Dan was in 1976, and we were all on a Pan Am fam to Guatemala. Dan was charming, intelligent, and quirky. His love for you was evident. Twenty years later, I found myself an employee of Omega, and in my eyes, Dan’s love for you was still evident. Dan was still quirky, but he cared about his employees, and he loved life. His passion and his energy were evident in everything he touched. Dan will be missed.

  13. Gloria: My deepest sympathy for your loss. When I first met Dan in the 80’s I realized he had a unique visionary approach to travel, and that he would indeed succeed. His passion and his energy carried through in just about everything he touched. With all of his brashness, he was shy to admit his caring for his employee’s and others he touched. I also wish you care and peace in your future. In good times, and especially during the past 6 years; you offered him continued care and love. May he rest in peace.

  14. Dear Gloria, We know what a difficult time the last six years have been and how bravely both you and Dan have struggled. Truly may Dan rest in peace. Our deepest sympathy…Rebecca and James Allen

  15. Gloria…. Dan and his memorable personality will always be remembered. He tested my airline services daily but always delivered. I considered him a friend. He will be missed but not forgotten in my thoughts and prayers.

  16. So sorry for your loss, only met Dan once and he seemed to be an upstanding person. Hope he rests in peace with all the Leyland Cypress trees he wants. May god rest his soul.

  17. Dearest Gloria: I along with the entire North America Sales & Distribution Team at Delta Air Lines wish to express our condolence to you at this time of great sadness. I recall when I 1st met Dan some twenty years ago, at the time I worked with Pan Am and what struck me then and still does today is how close Dan felt about the employees at Omega World Travel. I know that these last years have not been easy on you & Dan. He amazed us all. Please accept our deep felt thoughts at this time. Regards, Dave Begley Delta Air Lines, Inc.

  18. Dear Madam Extremely sorry to hear about sad demise of Mr. Bohan. We pray to Almighty to give peace to departed soul and enough strength to family members to bear this loss. Dave V Sharma Brussels Airlines, Lake Success, NY Aug.9,10

  19. Dear Gloria: Dan will forever stand tallest of them all in our industry. Through his tremendous vision and yours, the agency landscape has been shaped and redefined for the past three (3) decades from the humble beginnings in Fredericksburg, to Jeff Davis Highway, King Street, to the present… For the rest of us, Dan was an icon and an indomitable force. For you and your family, a husband and father that will be sorely missed beyond measure. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family for a man that it has been a privilege to have known. Al Camp

  20. Gloria, My deepest sympathy for your loss. May all your beautiful memories of your life with Dan keep you strong during this hard time.

  21. I remember about 12 years ago, Dan and Gloria visited Virginia Beach to help me find a new location. We had out-grown our small downtown Norfolk office. I was a new Manager at the time for Omega and scared out of my wits to be with the “owners” of Omega World Travel. Dan quickly made me feel vey comfortable and put my nerves at ease. He drove all around Virginia Beach with me looking at dozens of properties for hours. He recalled visiting Virginia Beach/Norfolk in the years before when he was in the military. I knew then how focused he was on finding the perfect business center for our growing office. Dan spoke of online services, how the internet would change the future of travel and how business would continue to grow. He was right. He was always one step ahead of the game. I will always remember Dan’s boisterous laugh, his envision for the future and most of all watching Gloria and Dan work as a true Team. May you rest in peace Dan and God Bless you and your loved ones.

Dan had the kind of personality when he walked into a room there was instant energy, never short on ideas and willingness to talk about the topics of the day. Dan would always speak his mind but everyone knew he had a big heart. Dans entrepreneural ideas crossed all walks of life that everyone could relate to. I learned a great deal from Dan having worked with him over the years and will always be grateful to him for giving me that opportunity. I have no doubt through the rest of his journey, Dan will have that same energy and enthusiasm as he had in life. God Bless

  39. Dan was an endless source of fresh ideas and concepts, many ahead of their time. I was always amazed by his creative energy which far exceeded my own. Dan also understood the human condition better than anyone I knew at the time; he recognized my strengths and weaknesses long before I did. Though I left Omega in the late 90s, many of Dans life lessons have stayed with me. Ive thought about him frequently over the years and was saddened to learn of his passing.

May he rest in peace and may you take comfort in knowing just how many lives were touched by him.

  54. I happened to catch the last bit of a segment on the Today Show the other morning about people who keep their emotions bottled up inside and the adverse effects this has on them. They were called “emotional hoarders.” I laughed to myself because I thought of Dan and how theres no way anyone would ever have accused him of being an emotional hoarder 🙂 Dan did, however, love to hoard golf balls. He would spot an area on the course that looked like it might be ripe with lost balls and hed go searching like a madman. He built up a stockpile of hundreds. This cracked me up because he would get boxes and boxes of new balls from the travel vendors and the last thing he needed to do was play with someone elses crappy old ball. He told me he didnt think he was good enough to use the new ones. Well, I think when Dan gets his first round in up in heaven he should tee up a nice new Titleist, hes definitely good enough.

  55. Gloria, So sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. May the good memories comfort you during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Omega family.

  56. Dan was always a man ahead of his time. When I first met him I thought to myself, this guy is a genius. As smart as Dan was when I met him, he always kept getting smarter and smarter. Come to think of it, everything Dan did was pretty smart. Being a part of the growth of Omega World Travel and watching Cruise.com grow to become one of the internet’s largest cruise sellers was very exciting. Together Dan and Gloria have proven to be a dynamic duo. For those who really knew Dan, it is safe to say, that what he taught us and gave us will be ours forever. Our memories of Dan will live forever. Bon Voyage Dan!

  57. Gloria, I just heard of Dan’s passing and wanted to extend my condolences to you and your family. He leaves a proud legacy of passion, performance and professionalism that will be hard to match, and sorely missed. Josephine L. Ursini

  58. Dear Gloria, I am very sorry for your loss. I pray that God gives you the strength to help you make it through this time of hardship and blesses Dan. Unfortunately, I never knew Dan but in my last five years with Omega World Travel – I have grown to know him. Everyone that ever spoke of Dan in the past years – always had a smile or laugh talking about him. That alone tells me what a great person he was to know and be around. I deeply regret that I never had an opportunity to know him personally. Our family’s prayers are with you. May God bless you & may Dan Bohan rest in peace. Although he is gone his memories will continue to live with us.

  60. I was sad to hear about Dan’s passing. He will be missed greatly. Phil and I always enjoyed working on issues and the occasional opportunities we had to discuss them with you and Dan. I understand how difficult this time is for you. My thought and prayers are with you. You have many wonderful memories to help get you through. When you’re down here in Florida, give me a call — I’d love to get together.

  63. Dear Gloria, I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your husband Dan. I didnt know him quite as well as others at Omega, but I know he made a huge impact on many of their lives. His focus, direction, the zest for life he showed and most of all his love for you cannot be easily replaced. I wish YOU great strength, comfort and fortitude at this time and may the hardship you face by his loss not be a great burden for you. Hold close to the cherished memories you both shared over the course of your lives and that will always bring a smile. We never lose the people we love, because they will rest in our hearts and minds, the rest of our lives. With deepest sympathy,

  64. Dear Gloria: Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. Dan will be missed dearly. He touched and changed the life of many by just being himself, a wonderful person full of love, a contagious laugh and a happy and optimistic attitude. Everything was “NO PROBLEM” for him. With Love, Gian and Myriam Dilawari and Family.

  65. Dear Gloria, Dan’s passing is not only very sad for you and the extended Omega family but also for our industry. 66. Dear Gloria, My heart is full for your loss as I am sure this must be a terrible time for you. You have both been such incredible professional colleagues for so very many years and both I and JPL hope that time aids in easing your pain and loss. Yours, Sally Heapy Jet Propulsion Laboratory

  69. Dan Bohan’s ability to mentor and motivate has left an indelible impression on myself and all of us fortunate enough to have been a part of his incredible life. Dan never failed to surprise me with his creative ideas and innovative approach to getting things done. Memories of his enthusiasm and his fearless drive to “push the envelope” have taught me to never take “no” for an answer and to never give up in the face of adversity. I often wonder, when faced with a dilemma, “How would Dan handle this?”. His guidance has served me well from both a professional and a personal standpoint. Dan’s entrepreneurial spirit has been the backbone of Omega World Travel. His unselfish and honest support has been instrumental to many individuals in reaching their personal potential. We will never forget the immeasurable gifts that Dan Bohan has left behind. I believe that Dan’s greatest gift to myself and to those of us who have spent the majority of our careers with Omega is – Opportunity.

  70. Dear Gloria It is always difficult at times like this to find words that are appropriate. No matter what one does or says, it is a painful experience that binds us like no other. We will all grieve differently. It is a process that each individual goes through on their own time table. Friendships built previously on a basis of respect, definitely help with the healing process. Dan was an icon in the “travel industry” and with you by his side as his soul mate, made a truly formidable team. His passing comes too soon and he will be missed. I have great and fond memories of a real friendship that started the very day we met. What a big heart and what a big presence that will be missed so dearly. It is with much love and respect that we offer our sympathies and wish you courage in dealing with your (and all of our) great loss.

  71. Gloria, I am so sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. I met Dan eleven years ago when Cruise.com was in its beginning stages. He gave me the opportunity to begin a Groups department which I remain thankful for. I was very fortunate to be able to meet someone with such strong leadership skills. My sincere sympathy for the loss of your husband, my prayers will be with you and your family.

  72. Please accept my condolences and those of Princess Cruises. We all enjoyed working with Dan. He certainlly had a love of life.

  73. Dear Gloria, I will always have fond memories of you and Dan from TTI and Woodside Travel Trust meetings in the 80s and early 90s. Dan was never shy about expressing his many ideas and opinions! He was a character. You both embodied the entrepreneurial spirit and big-picture thinking that have made Omega World Travel what it is today. It is interesting to read about Dan’s earlier years and other business ventures outside of the travel industry. May he rest in peace. You’ve been very strong, Gloria, and are much admired by so many of us. May God give you some well-deserved peace. Maura Allen

  74. Gloria: You and I recently met so I never had the pleasure of meeting Dan. The way you have spoken of him speaks to what a wonderful person he was. You were blessed to have had the time you two spent together. My heart goes out to you in your loss. Warmly, Joan

  75. Dear Gloria, My heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow. Having worked for Omega for almost three years, I am the unfortunate one that never got to personally meet Dan. 76. Dear Gloria: My thoughts and prayers are with you on the passing of Dan. I remember hearing the “love story” on the beautiful and special relationship you shared with Dan. Many the loving and fond memories always be with you. Thinking about you – Vicki Freed

  77. Gloria You gave me the opportunity to join the Omega family, and the chance to work and more important learn from Dan with his endless source of ideas and marketing concepts. I will never forget Dan, and the opportunity to learn from his leadership. He was a leader. Please accept my condolences, and know that you are in my prayers. Ed Cooper

  81. Dear Gloria, We were so sorry and saddened to read about Dan’s passing. The last six years were undoubtedly hard for both of you. We’re sure that your love and care helped enormously. Dan will be missed for his creativity, his zest for life and his innovative ideas for Omega. He was always on to the next big idea and knew what would work, as if he had a crystal ball. He was a unique personality and he will be missed by everyone he touched but especially by you, Gloria. Our heart goes out to you, your family and the Omega family. Love, Carl & Louise Spangler

  82. Dear Gloria: On behalf of the Lufthansa Washington Sales Team, we wish to extend our sincerest condolences to you and the Omega family. Sincerely, Astrid

  83. Gloria – my thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. What amazing lives you and Dan have shared! Wishing you continued blessings in the years ahead.

  84. Dear Gloria, My heart goes out to you . I lost my husband a year ago and I know it is a hard thing to go through but you will make it. There will be times that you think that you are not going to make it , but you have to be strong. We do not understand sometimes what God puts us through, but we know that it is what he has planned for us. When I see a beautiful sunset, highest mountains and beautiful cascade waterfalls, I can only think that I am closer to my husband because God created these beautiful things on earth and I know that heaven is a more beautiful place to be!

  85. One of the kind. It would be hard to find a more generous or loyal friend from Dan Bohan – or a better businessman, futurist, visionary and teacher. Over the years, Dan and I spent a lot of time together, in the office and traveling the world for business and pleasure. Dan was always able to find pleasure in business and the opportunity in pleasure. When others slow down, Dan was pushing forward. He was great mentor, always looking for improvement and new ventures. He loved water and boats. All kind of boats – go fast, fishing, sailing, small and big. He was married on one and turn his love for cruising to a household name business – cruise.com. All I can say, Dan you are missed by all and happy sailing my friend.

  86. Dear Gloria and Friends at Omega, I was distressed to return from my vacation to find out that Dan had passed away. I have so many wonderful memories of working with him during my 20 plus years as the office manager of the Winchester Omega Branch #24. The beautiful thing is that Dan fought the good fight, and he is now in heaven celebrating with the angels! One of my fondest memories of Dan was when he took a group of us, (including Patt and Johnny Hall) out on his speedboat from your marina to Annapolis, with a stop of the engine under the Bay Bridge. Truly a beautiful sight! I had heard stories about Dan behind the wheel of his boat, and he didn’t disappoint me! What a day!! I shall always remember Dan fondly and with admiration. He was truly a pioneer and a visionary and I was so fortunate to have him in my life! With deepest sympathy, BJ Manuel Former Winchester Omega Office Manager 540-662-6665

  87. Dearest Gloria, We were so saddened to hear about Dan yesterday. The kindness that both you and Dan showed Hank and me will forever be a part of our memories. Our fondest memories of Dan include the time we almost missed the tender in Playa Del Carmen, the time he gave us the Palm Beach and Jupiter Island tour and his looking for a laundry mat! Dan was so special to me and who could forget those Apollo negotiations! Time spent with you and Dan was always fun, unpredictable and memorable! It was always so clear how much he loved you, I never recall a conversation with Dan that he did not bring you or your accomplishments into the conversation. You were his everything and he loved you deeply. Together the two of you have given so much to so many. It is our sincere wish that the love from all of us comforts and surrounds you, as you mourn the love of your life. We miss you and would love to see you sometime. May God bless you Carol and Hank Brown

  88. Gloria, I was deeply saddened when I heard today of Dan’s passing. He was the single biggest influence on my professional life. I learned more from him in the 10 years I was with Omega than all the rest of my experience combined. His passion for selling and positively outrageous service was contagious. As was his excitement about technology, I consulted him before leaving the travel industry to design and sell voice and data networks. He is with me every day in the way I sell and look for new technology solutions. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Omega family in this time sorrow. Bill Carpenter

  89. Dear Gloria, I was so surprised to hear of Dan’s death. I had the pleasure of working for you both for several years and I’ll always remember the consideration and positive attitude I received as an employee. Gloria, God bless you and remember, time heals all wounds. Fondly, Jean Harris

  90. Dan remains for me one of the most memorable people I have ever met. His ability to see-through nonsense and call things as he saw them, usually in hilarious tones, made him a completely infectious character that I always wanted to be with. Sometimes I made trips just to spend a little time in Dan’s company! He taught me to be real, always speak-up when something is not right, and always be true to myself and counter-parts. They may not like what I have to say, but saying it is better than not. An example of this – A large company invited Dan on a high-stakes, VIP visit hoping to impress him with a major initiative. In classic Dan fashion, he admonished their ideas in third person: “Dan doesn’t like this! Dan thinks this is not going to work! Dan says you have way too much riding on this, and if it doesn’t work – youre sunk! Dan is not going to touch this!” A premier performance, and as usual, he was right…they sunk. I miss you Dan, but your “gems” will stay with me always.

  91. Dear Mrs. Bohan, Although we had never met your husband, after reading through your beautiful memorial for him, we can only express our sincerest condolences for your loss. His journey through life was disquished, honorable and accomplished; we hope these memories will help you through this difficult time. With our deepest sympathy, Cheryl McCarthy and Kathy Lempke/Westover Air Reserve Base/Omega World Travel

  92. Gloria, my heart goes out to you in your time of grief. Dan was a man with a true love, drive and passion for everything he did and an amazing love for you. He was a great a mentor to me during my time at Omega – I will never forget how creative and resourceful he was. I was once told that if you die with 5 true friends in your life, you’ve lived a good life. After reading the many messages on this guestbook, I’d have to say that Dan Bohan touched many and must have lived an AMAZING LIFE! God’s Speed Dan Bohan and thank you for being you!

  93. Dear Gloria, Our heartfelt condolence on the sad demise of dear Daniel, we pray to god will give you and family comfort and stength, may his soul rest in peace

  94. Dear Gloria, Please accept our condolences on your loss. May god give you the strength to bear the loss and may his soul rest in peace. Abraham.

  95. I just learned today of your loss and of Dan’s illness these past many years. I was fortunate to be one of many to have worked for OWT first at Skyline and then at Headquaters in Fairfax. I learned so much during my 11 years at OWT, when I had to move to Florida to care for my parents, you were very understanding, wished me well and extended an invitation to return if I ever had the opportunity. I know that God welcomed Dan home with open arms. Gloria, stay stong and be well. A former grateful employee.

  96. Gloria, I am writing this on behalf of my mother, Mary Lou Post. She is quite ill, but heard of Dan’s passing and wanted to express her condolences. We spent a nice afternoon reminiscing about her many years at Omega. So many great stories. If I hadn’t met Dan myself, I probably would not have believed half of them! Thank you for sharing him with us. He will be missed, but his spirit will certainly live on.

  97. My sincerest belated condolences. Mrs. Bohan I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved husband. It was wonderful to see the pictures and read your very candid and loving comments about your life with Mr. Bohan. Take care and best wishes. Sincerely, Sincee White

  98. Mrs. Bohan, I read your post on my Daddy’s obituary page. After reading your husbands obituary, I am honored that my Daddy and your husband shared the same name. He sounds like he was a truly amazing man and I am sorry for your loss-though I know first hand that those words aren’t as comforting as we would like. My mother is not internet savvy so I will have to direct her to your post and your husbands site. I know that she would enjoy speaking with you and perhaps it would be comforting for the both of you. God Bless You!

  99. Dear Gloria, It seems hard to believe that the indominitable spirit of Dan Bohan is no longer with us. What a remarkable man he was! I feel lucky to have worked for him and regard him as one of my mentors. Under his sometimes rough exterior was a big-hearted teddy bear who cared deeply for his employees, the company, the travel industry and those he considered his family and friends. Always demanding, he brought out the best in me and made me accomplish tasks that I thought were impossible. But he believed in me and my talent and gave me the space to develop it. He was such a travel industry visionary, but often was considered a lunatic by those in the industry who couldn’t see the future as clearly as he did. Of course, he was right more times than he was wrong, much to the surprise of those who thought he was crazy. His ability to take risks and move the company in new directions by his willpower made Omega World Travel what it is today. With your steady hand on the rudder and Dan’s blowing the sails in new directions, Omega became a travel contender. My fond memories of Dan will always remain in my heart.

  100. We shall miss Dan. He was one of the most creative, dynamic and astute businessmen in the travel industry. He and Gloria have seen trends way ahead of time, been able to capitalize on them and create hundreds of jobs in the DC area. I’m sorry to see him pass on but am confident that the memory of his accomplishments will last beyond. My sincerest condolences to Gloria, All the best, Peter

  101. Dear Gloria, We are sending you our heartfelt condolence. You both will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you for sharing Dan with us and it was a pleasure to work for him.

  102. Dear Mrs. Bohan, I happened upon your dear Husband’s obituary by accident after seing your cruise company’s advertisement on the web. I just wanted to say how beautifully put together it was. This is the way we should remember such a special person! Surely a life well lived! Seems you had a blessed life as Husband and Wife. Keep the memories alive. I hope my email makes you smile today. Your love for your Husband and reading about his life has touched my heart. I wish you much success in the future. Enjoy each precious day and go on and do the best you can everyday! Sincerely, Cheryl Fitzsimmons Ps What a wonderful industry you are involved it. Making people happy and giving them their dreams!

  103. Dear Gloria, What a versitle and visionary man you chose to be your partner in life and in work! The description of his interests and accomplishments conveys so much… I almost feel I’d met him. And I’m genuinely so sorry for the loss of this powerful partner and supporter in your life. May the memories of your happy years and outstanding achievements together see you through any cloudy days ahead. With great sympathy and admiration…

  104. Dear Gloria, Even though it has been many years since I left Omega, I still think of everyone often. In addition, I often use the website to search for deals as I still love to travel. It was a shock as I signed on today to see that Dan had passed. He was truly a visionary in this business and my heart goes out to you for your loss, not only for a business partner but your life partner as well. Please accept my condolences for your loss. Best regards, Linda Sachs (a former employee)

  105. My maternal grandmother was Dan’s paternal aunt. I regret hearing of Dan’s passing. I was close to Marion his mother. I remember seeing Dan off on the QE2 when he and Gloria got married. Sorry for the belated sympathies.
