John "Jack" Patrick Joyce died peacefully at age 87 in Oakton, Virginia, after a nine-month battle with vascular dementia.

Jack was born in Brooklyn, New York, on June 15, 1929 to the late Martin Joyce and Mary Lennon, both born in Ireland. He was preceded in death by Marie Joyce, the mother of his children, daughter Jacqueline Troy and siblings Martin Joyce and Mary Joyce.

Jack is a proud Army Veteran, serving from December 1950 through November 1952 in Germany. He later attended St. John's University in New York using the G.I. Bill. Jack worked as a stock trader for years before becoming a successful entrepreneur designing and selling business forms. He was known and respected for his tenacity, ability to read people and close a sale. Everyone who knew Jack also knew of his passion for football, tennis and golf. He also enjoyed to read, play Sudoku and tell stories and jokes using an Irish brogue.

Jack is survived by his wife, Diane; children William Joyce, Robert Joyce and Janet Joyce; stepson Daniel Sullivan and stepdaughter Kerry Meeker; and brother Thomas Joyce. Jack also leaves behind twelve loving grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jack's name to AHRC, a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to publicly solicit and receive funds for the benefit of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Donations will be directed to the autism programs his grandson's participate. The address is: 189 Wheatley Road #3, Brookville, New York, 11545.
