Jeffrey Douglas Leonard

January 18, 1953 ~ June 9, 2022
It is with much sadness, that we say goodbye for now to Jeffrey Douglas Leonard (a.k.a JDL). He passed away peacefully with his wife and daughters at his side at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in the early morning on Thursday, June 9th, 2022.
He was the only child of Col. William B. Leonard and Phyllis Leonard of Clearfield, PA. He is survived by his wife (and best friend of 22 years), Jacqui Leonard; daughters, Melissa German (husband, Peter) and Emily Leonard; stepchildren, Christopher Bogdewic (wife, Sasha), Ashley Sedwick (husband, Eric), and Benjamin Yashan (fiancé, Rachel); grandchildren, Ashtyn, Faith, Lily, Isaac, Christian, Kaelah, Jaxon, and Liam. He also left behind four dogs that brought entertainment and unconditional love to his life daily: Mr. Bear, Maggie, Sadie, and Rascal.
Jeff spent over 45 years working as a plant manager at Hanson Pipe & Concrete. After he left Hanson, he started his own business and then five years later took a part-time job at Tractor Supply. He truly enjoyed his time at Tractor Supply and was referred to as, “Mr. Jeff, the man who knew everything about fixing things, no matter how big or how small.” He would come home with many crazy stories which always brought laughter and brightened the day of those he shared them with.
Jeff had many passions; the main ones being fishing, crabbing, grilling, and experimenting with creative recipes in the kitchen. His favorite thing to do in the evening was to enjoy a Bud Light and watch episodes of Wicked Tuna or NCIS with his wife and dogs. From the beginning of their lives together, he played a major role as a "Girl Scout Leader". He knew how much Jacqui loved to lead Girl Scouts and jumped right in as a supportive Co-leader for 19 years. He was known to everyone as “Papa Bear.”
Jeff loved life, family, food, and fun. He was very loved by all he met and will be terribly missed. We will never be without him in our hearts and know he will always be watching over us.

We are sincerely sorry for your loss. Lots of love and hugs
Mr. Jeff was dearly loved by our family. We have many wonderful memories from being apart of the Girl Scouts. Mrs. Jacqui and Mr. Jeff became family to us. We will miss the times Mr. Jeff would stop by our shop to share some of his mouth watering BBQ with us. His cooking skills were unmatched. We are so thankful for Jeff taking us out on his boat for a fun day of shark fishing and then ending the day eating delish crab cakes, again wonderfully made by Jeff. It deeply saddens us to know we can no longer stop in at Tractor Supply just to say hi to Mr. Jeff. Mr. Jeff was an amazing soul and blessing in our lives. He brought joy to us all. There will not be a day that goes by that Mr. Jeff is not dearly missed. We love you Jeff. May you Rest In Peace. ❤️ Love, The Mcall’s
