Jimmie Shelton Michael, 90, of Dunn Loring, VA, passed unexpectedly at his home on
June 2, 2025. He fought a long and courageous battle with health issues.

Jimmie Michael served his country as a Paratrooper in the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division
in the mid 1950’s. He once said, “I have done my part – I ain’t no hero.” He became an
extremely talented Upholsterer. He started Upholstery in Durham, North Carolina and
then moved to New Port News, Virginia with his Upholstery business. He then moved to
Northern Virginia area and ran his business, Michael’s Upholstery. He has work in the
Smithsonian Institution as well as in a former President’s and Senators’ homes. He has
work in Mount Vernon, made straps for NASA that are on the moon, done work for
Princesses and Princes of other countries, he has work in the George Washington
Masonic National Memorial and so many other institutes. He was an artist and
perfectionist of his craftsmanship of Upholstery. Jimmies work is in thousands of
customers’ homes from Virginia to North Carolina. He is remembered by those who
knew him as a hard-working man who adored his family. His children and grandchildren
were his whole world. Jimmie had a beautiful voice reminiscent of Elvis and Johnny
Cash and loved to sing. He was also fond of telling long and crazy stories about his life
experiences. Jimmie loved telling stories about all his memories he cherished in life. He
was one of a kind and there will never be another one like him. He had a dynamic
personality and could walk in a room and become friends with everyone. He did not
know a stranger and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jimmie Michael was born in Davidson County North Carolina on April 22, 1935, to
Ernest Ervin Michael and Vallie Savannah Yarbrough Michael. In addition to his parents,
He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Alice Michael; daughter, Donna
Marie Michael; three brothers, Rayvon Michael, Connie Michael, and Roy Michael; four
sisters, Louise Smith, Polly Regan, Jonnie Kinney and Geraldine Eastham, two nieces,
Gail Michael and Carol Zealy, and three nephews, Micky Eller, Ricky Eller and Scottie
Eller.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Wendy Ann Michael, Lisa Michael Corbin
(Rob); Grandchildren, Jasmin Marie Michael, Jaydan Shelton Michael, Nicole Alexandra
Miller (Stewart); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on June 11, 2025, from 6:00pm to
8:00pm at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Ave W, Vienna, VA 22180. Flowers
will be accepted at Money & King Funeral Home. An intimate family and friends
graveside service will be held on June 12, 2025, at 11:00 am at Columbia Gardens
Cemetery, 3411 Arlington Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201. A lunch for family members will
follow the graveside service at Antioch Christian Church, 1860 Beulah Road, Vienna,
VA 22182.

  2. Although I don’t remember him that well, I do remember him going to Jasmin and I’s softball games. We, Coopers, loved him! God bless and you all will be in my prayers.
