John "Jack" Joseph Murray, Jr

John Joseph Murray, Jr. (Jack), of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, January 28 at the age of 88. Mr. Murray, a graduate of Boston College and The George Washington University Law School, had a distinguished career with the Central Intelligence Agency, serving in the Directorate of Operations. He was honored with the CIA award of Career Achievement after serving over 35 years.



Mr. Murray leaves, to cherish his memory, his daughters Marie Louise Moriarty (Stephen H.) and Monique Marie, and sons John J. Murray III and Michael L. Murray (Mary Clare Scalia) and 11 grandchildren.



A funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 11am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia. Friends may visit with family at St. Agnes from 10am. Interment will be at Columbia Gardens following the mass.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady of Clear Creek Abbey, 5804 W. Monastery Rd., Hulbert, OK 74441-5698 or online at clearcreekmonks.org.

  1. My father, Edward Dragon and Jack were good friends since their early days in New England. My parents often mentioned the fun times they all had together back in the 1960’s. Our family sends our condolences to the Murray family.

  2. Dear Murray Family, I’m very sorry to learn so late of Mr. Murrays passing. John, Michael & Monique my deepest Condolences. I had fond memories of Mr. Murray when I was in my college years. It was always a pleasure going to his house and feeling like family. Mr. Murray was well respected in his career in the CIA and well loved by his family & friends.
