Liam Michael Doherty, 54, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025, following a brief illness. Born in White Plains, NY, Liam was the beloved son of Susan Doherty and the late Peter Doherty. He is survived by his mother; his sister, Jennifer Hohman, and her husband, David Hohman; and his cherished daughter, Kathryn Reilly Doherty, 14.

Liam grew up in Rye, New York, where his love for sports and the outdoors took root early and remained a constant throughout his life. Whether playing lacrosse and football, teeing off with friends, or savoring the ocean breeze at the beach, Liam was most at home outside, surrounded by the people he loved.

Professionally, Liam built a successful career for more than 30 years as a Growth Executive in the Virginia area, specializing in IT and cybersecurity. He held leadership roles at several respected companies, including Samsung, Lockheed Martin, SESC, Intervise, and most recently, Plurilock. Colleagues knew him for his expertise, determination, and generosity of spirit.

Liam will be remembered for his big heart, quick wit, and the deep love he held for his family and friends. His presence will be profoundly missed, and his memory will live on in all who knew and loved him.

In memory of Liam, for those who wish, a donation in his name may be made to the Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) https://foha.org/

A celebration of Liam’s life is being planned by the family and is expected to take place later this spring.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I will remember you ever time I golf and have a laugh as I think about the good times we shared. You were a good friend and taught me to be a better person… God bless to you and your family.

  2. I was very sad to hear of Liam’s passing. Way too soon for such a young man. Liam was a good friend and a co-worker of mine at Systems Engineering Services Corporation(SES) for almost 8 years. He was our Director of Business Development… and quickly became an integral member of the SES Family. We sold a lot of business together, played a lot of golf and had a ton of fun in the process. Always laid back and easy going, Liam never let life stop him from having a positive attitude and a sunny outlook… no matter how dark the clouds were. That skill made him a joy to work with… He was a good son and always made it a point to take care of his Mom with numerous trips to New York. I have many fond memories of spending time with Liam inside and outside of the office. He will be missed by his SES family… and the many friends that had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in Peace My Friend…. You Are Missed….

  3. I will light many candies. Rest in peace in heaven Liam. Until we meet again. Your sister forever, Jen

  4. You had the most infectious smile as kid and as an adult! I will never lose the memory of that smile! Rest in peace…
