June 17, 1944 ~ June 21, 2025
Resided in:
McLean, Virginia
“Lorraine Hart, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 81 on June 21st, 2025. Lorraine was a wonderful woman with a bubbly personality, and always made people around her feel better. She was kind, generous, helped people in need, and above all was the funniest woman we have ever known. She was born in Cwmfelinfach, Wales on June 17th, 1944, to her parents Marshall and Gwyneth Harris. She had one older sister who she loved very much, Patricia Harris. Lorraine spent her youth in Cwmfelinfach, a town that always held a special place in her heart. She loved adventure, and traveled across Europe with her friends in her younger days. At the age of 18, she lost her mother Gwyneth, and only five years later had to also endure the loss of her father Marshall. These experiences helped shape her into the strong, mentally tough woman that her family and friends admired. After her father passed away, she moved to London with some of her friends. That was where she met the love of her life and future husband, Anthony John Hart. They were soon married, and lived in numerous towns in England as they started their family. They had two sons, Simeon John Michael and Nicholas James Edward, before work opportunities brought them to the United States – finally settling in Vienna, VA.
Lorraine loved her community and was very active in her church. She was the main reason the family was able to feel comfortable in a new country, immediately making friends and connections and making our new surroundings feel like home. She loved gardening, singing, sports, and especially animals. She was the type of person that every pet would gravitate towards, and would always take in any strays that would appear at the house. She loved learning, and after her sons got older and left the house decided to go back to school, eventually earning an Associate’s degree from NVCC. In addition to her travels in her younger days, she also enjoyed traveling the globe with her husband in her retirement years, and got to experience many amazing places throughout her life. She was married to her husband John until the end, a marriage that lasted 52 years. Her love and support throughout her life is the only reason her husband and sons are where they are today. Lorraine was warm, giving, kind, hilarious, tough – pretty much all the qualities that you would want in a person. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.”

What a lovely bio. I never had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Hart, but I can see that she passed on the qualities of humor, caring about others, and generosity (among others) to my friend and neighbor, Nick. My condolences to the family on their loss.
