Steuart Edward Vest

“STEUART EDWARD VEST was born November 2,1926, in Washington D.C. to George Burnley Vest, Sr. and Edna Sarah (Muncaster) Vest. He served in the U.S. Navy 1944-46, graduated 1951 from The University of Virginia with a degree in electrical engineering, and spent his working career in the defense industry. He was married to his wife Eleanor M. Vest (Ellie) for 67 years before his death on June 3, 2025, after a long illness. Steuart and Ellie’s first son, James B. Vest, went to the Lord on June 8, 2017.

Steuart is survived by his wife, his son Andrew M. Vest (Sabra Purtill), daughter-in-law Nancy Heiser Vest, four granddaughters, Katie Bridges, Lara Vest, Amanda Vest, Cameron Skinner, and three great grandchildren, Finnegan Skinner, Lydia (Wren) Bridges, and Kira Skinner.

A memorial service is planned for July 19, 2025 at Fourth Presbyterian Church – Bethesda(4thpres.org). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Fourth Presbyterian.

The family is especially grateful to the tireless and loving work of Melrose Brown Dawson, Rosina Danquah, Rosaline Musa, and Naya Smith, who principally provided care for Steuart in his final years.”
