William John Morin

William John Morin, age 87, died peacefully surrounded by his family at Fair Oaks Hospital in Oak Hill, VA on Saturday evening, November 19th at 9:37PM. Born September 23, 1929, in Somerset, Pennsylvania to Edwin Alfred Morin and Marie Winifred O'Leary, he was the youngest in a family of 7 children. He attended school and was a school patrol and Boy Scout in Somerset, PA. Bill proudly joined the Air Force in 1947 at age 18 for four years, and was honorably discharged on September 24th, 1951. His rank was Staff Sergeant and he served as an Air Traffic Control operator. He was stationed in Panama, and also in British Guiana (Guyana), and finished his last assignment with the 1918th AACS Squadron at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. The GI Bill helped Bill attend Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA. He graduated in three years summa cum laude with a BS in Business in 1956. He married the love of his life Faye Elizabeth Berkey, from Kingwood, PA, on September 15, 1954 in Saint Paul's Cathedral in Pittsburgh PA. The couple established their home in the Pittsburgh area and started their family. They welcomed the birth of their first son, Timothy Xavier in 1955, followed by son Michael Kevin in 1956, and Therese Anne in 1957. Five years later, in 1962 they welcomed daughter Lisa Renee, and in 1965, son David Sean. Bill started his career with US Steel in Pittsburgh as an internal auditor, overseeing exciting projects like the building of a bridge in South Africa, and Portugal. In 1969 he left US Steel and began work at Xerox, relocating to Pittsford NY, outside Rochester. Bill spent the rest of his career at Xerox in various accounting management roles. In 1972 the family relocated and settled in Vienna, Virginia, where they have resided ever since. He retired from Xerox in 1992. After retirement, he immersed himself in woodworking and furniture building, selling many pieces in local Vienna shops. Bill and Faye have loved their life and surrounded themselves with family as their priority. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, Father, Pop Pop and friend who always enjoyed a conversation, a challenge, a good book and family holidays. He loved dogs and cats, fishing with buddies, doing yard work and being outdoors, watching sports and his beloved Steelers, reading, and movies. He will be remembered for his strong will and personality, his intelligence, quick wit and sense of humor, his sense of fairness, love of his country and church, his passion for travel, but most of all his devotion to his family. Bill was very giving person who wanted to help others in need. After retiring he gave his time driving meals from his church into the District of Columbia every week for the needy. He gave to many organizations of his faith, and for those less fortunate. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Faye (87); his 5 children's families, son Timothy of Richmond VA,, son Michael and wife Kathleen of Oak Hill, VA, Daughter Terri and husband Douglas Michel of Oak Hill, VA, Daughter Lisa and husband Robert of Ashburn, VA, and son David and wife Karen also of Oak Hill, VA; and his beloved grandchildren Timothy, Adam, Matthew, Emily , Will, Sarah, Jenny, twins Rachel and Luke, and Katie. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Brothers Edwin, Thomas, and Robert, Sisters Alice, Clement, and Claire. These are the facts. This man was so much more than facts. He will be greatly missed. A wake will be held at 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, December 2nd, 2016 at Money and King Funeral Home in Vienna, VA. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 3rd at St Marks Catholic Church in Vienna, VA. The family will be receiving guests at a reception in the church immediately following the Mass. Interment will be held on Monday, December 5th, at St Mary's Church in Fairfax Station , VA at 2:00pm. RIP !!! My condolences to Bill’s family. I was delighted to find another Duquesne graduate in our Bastille Street abode. And we were delighted with his visits. We’ll miss him.
