Allimaye C Taylor, a long-time resident of Fairfax, Virginia, died on November 2, 2020 at the age of 94 1/2 years old at the Gardens of Fair Oaks, surrounded by loving family members.

Allimaye was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Warren G Taylor and her son Mark D Taylor, who died in 2018. Allimaye is survived by her children Jeffrey Warren Taylor (Ruth) and Lisa Taylor Golden (Glenn). Also left behind are her seven grandchildren: Valerie Hall (Doug), Jeffrey Taylor Jr. (Sarah), Brandon Taylor (Ashley), Kendra Ballantine (Sean), Clinton Golden, Nicholas Golden and Andrew Golden. Allimaye also had eight great-grandchildren to include: Alex Hall, Ashleigh Hall, Grayson Hall, Ella Taylor, Owen Taylor, Solara Ballantine, Aleera Ballantine and Senorina Ballantine.

Allimaye was born on April 1, 1926 to Clinton Corder and Sada Stark Corder in Alexandria, Virginia. From the start, Allimaye was “small but mighty” weighing only 4 lbs at birth, a trait that carried through her entire life. After high-school, Allimaye worked in the junior department of Woodward and Lothrop in Washington, DC. Allimaye lived through WWII and supported the war efforts with her family. Allimaye met Warren Taylor on the day he returned from Pearl Harbor. There he was assigned salvaging Navy warships after the attack in 1941. Allimaye and Warren married August 5, 1945. In 1947, the first of their three children was born and Allimaye took on the duties of homemaker. In the early 1950’s, Allimaye became a Seventh-Day-Adventist attending the “Ilda” SDA church in Annandale, Va. There she was an active member of the church, leading in the children’s ministries, teaching Sabbath school classes. Allimaye also drove the school bus for both the Alexandria and thereafter, the Vienna SDA church schools. In 1956, Allimaye’s second son was born followed by a daughter in 1965.

Allimaye had many different jobs throughout her “career” years and she used the extra income to support her children’s Christian education. Allimaye enjoyed music and could play both the piano and organ. Many times she was heard belting out a “Boogie Woogie” tune on the keyboards. She was also fond of “Big Band”and the gospel music of Elvis Presley. Allimaye was a member of the Vienna SDA church for 56 years moving to the Manassas SDA church in 2010. After the passing of her husband Warren in 1990, Allimaye decided to serve others and did so volunteering at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital for over 20 years. Allimaye took great pride and joy in watching her family grow with the addition of many grandchildren and great-grands. Allimaye loved spending time with her family and became the true matriarch of the “Taylor Clan”… always instilling the importance of being honest, having integrity and loving God.

After suffering a minor stroke in 2013, Allimaye moved to the Garden’s at Fair Oaks. There she made many friends and called this facility her home for over seven years. Allimaye truly enjoyed all the assorted activities and social engagements that were offered there. She thrived for many years until her dementia worsened and she began to become frail over the summer months. Her decline was rapid and although her will to live was strong, her disease was stronger… finally succumbing to its grip with those she loved at her side. Allimaye left an endearing impression on all she met; for on the day she passed…there was not a dry eye to be found. From the housekeepers, to the dining attendants, to the nursing staff…going up to the administration….all cried.

Visitation is scheduled at Money & King Vienna Funeral Home (171 West Maple Ave. Vienna, VA 22180) on Sunday, November 8 from 2-4 pm. Funeral services also at Money & King on Monday, November 9 at 11:00 am. Graveside service to follow at Flint Hill Cemetery in Oakton, VA. Pastor Randy Davis of the Manassas SDA Church officiating.
