Angel Hollis Vaccaro

January 12, 1976 - October 9, 2020

Angel Hollis Vaccaro passed away on October 9, 2020 after a short illness surrounded by family at home. Angel (44 years old) was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia before calling Northern Virginia her home.

Her memory is cherished by her family including her husband of 16 years, Damon Vaccaro, mother, Lois Hollis, and father, Dr Joseph Hollis. She is survived by her two adoring sisters, Dr Alicia Hollis and Andria (Paul) Tobin, her father-in-law and mother-in-law Vincent and Charlotte Vaccaro, her brother-in-law Darren (Amy) Vaccaro, her sister-in-law Dana (Jonathan) Laughlin and numerous nieces and nephews (Landon Vaccaro-12, Kaleb Alemu-8, Gianna Vaccaro-8, Mila Laughlin-7, Connor Tobin-6, Dylan Tobin-4, and Myles Laughlin-4), all of whom affectionately called her "Auntie." Many dear friends and colleagues also hold Angel close to their heart. Although young, Angel had an enormous impact on so many.

She graduated from Virginia Tech (Bachelor of Science in Business / Psychology) and subsequently graduated from Carnegie Mellon University (Master in Business Administration). Fresh out of college, Angel devoted her career to Digital Marketing Consulting where she worked at Deloitte for 22 years, achieving Partnership in 2011 at a young age. She previously served as a board member for Kid Power where she promoted the importance of youth education.

Angel lit up every room she entered with her smile, generous spirit, and boundless appetite for fun always drawing people to her in those fabulous shoes. She will forever be remembered for her intensity in everything that she set out to accomplish. Through her ability to connect with clients and colleagues, she gained tremendous respect in her field. She passionately devoted all of herself to the business that she built, teams that she led, and people that she mentored. Angel embraced every challenge with resilience, creativity, collaboration, and joy while never missing an opportunity to celebrate.

Angel lived fiercely and loved deeply. While Angel and Damon were fortunate to travel the globe and relax on the best beaches, she most of all enjoyed being at home with family and friends relaxing by the pool, hosting gatherings, and sharing bottles of wine. “Auntie Angel” loved to have pizza party sleepovers and roast S’mores with her nieces and nephews.

The family would be honored to receive family and friends at Money & King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Ave W, Vienna, VA 22180 on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 4pm until 8pm. Guestbook

  1. I was deeply saddened to hear of Angel’s passing. I mostly saw Angel at Vaccaro family events and she always had a glass of wine waiting for me, and her and Damon always so openly welcomed me and my family into their home. Angel was such a strong woman! I doubt she even realized it, but she often empowered me at my own job. I often joked with my Mom that on more than one occasion, I internally thought “What Would Angel Do” when I had a struggle at work. And the answer was always ….She is Fierce and would go for it – she wouldn’t even think of letting anyone get in the way! There have been numerous times now that I have faced things head on at work with Angel’s voice in the back of my head and I will continue to because of her. My deepest sympathies go out to Damon and her family. She was an amazing inspiration and will be greatly missed. I’m so sorry that I won’t be able to attend her funeral, but I will definitely be wearing Pink on Saturday for her! My deepest condolences, Corry Laughlin

  2. We had the pleasure of meeting Angel when our son married into the Vaccaro family and we became members of Angel’s extended family. Angel was always a beautiful, kind and caring person, but what impressed me the most was her intelligence, her confidence, and her fearless attitude to take on the world. I’m sure Angel was not aware of how she affected everyone who knew her, but for me, her style, her humor and her graciousness will be remembered forever! Sending our love & prayers to Damon and his entire family. Larry and Michele Beck (Dana Vaccaro’s in-laws) Pittsburgh, PA

  15. I’m so sorry for your loss. I am still in shock. Angel and I spent over 10 years together at Deloitte every single day. I feel like we grew up together in the firm. We talked a lot about work, relationships, children and the give and take our work needed from us. In many ways, she was more like a little sister than a coworker for many years. We went through a lot together I heard so many stories about all of you. She loved to talked about her sisters. She coached me through my single life and we laughed a lot. She worked hard and celebrated hard. She was always in a joyous mood and the first one to tell me we needed to go get drinks in Reston. I still remember we were at the spa when she found out she made Partner. I still can’t believe she is gone. She was joyous to be around. Thinking of you all. Damon I am thinking of you most. I have some amazing pictures of Angel over the years and from my wedding. I’ll find them for you. I’m not sure what else to say but I’m here if you need anything. We hadn’t talk in some time because I got sick and then left the firm. I didn’t even know she was sick. I would have reached out. Angel was a big part of my time at Deloitte and I have so many fond memories. Deepa

  16. Angel was a tremendous source of light and strength for her friends and family. My heart is with all of you- sisters, mom, dad, husband, nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law. Hold each other close. Angel is dearly held in our hearts. All my love and support to you.

  17. My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family during this difficult period. Angel was beautiful, energetic, honest and inspiring soul. It is an honor to have known such a amazing person. Please know that you and your family will be in my prayers.

  18. I met Angel at Deloitte and only had the chance to work with her for a short time period. Despite that short time, she had a tremendous impact on me. She was truly a one of a kind and a very special woman. She will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go to her family during this difficult time.

  19. So many of my favorite memories at Deloitte include Angel front and center – she brought the energy, creativity, laughter and fun. I was listening to podcast this week about people who experience real emotion (not afraid to show real human emotion), who can make real meaningful personal connections, and who can genuinely laugh (not polite or amusement laugh but the real laugh out loud, hiccup induced laugh) are some of the most fulfilled and happy people. I thought about Angel – she was all of these things. She was not afraid to show emotions, connected so deeply with people (and she was a fearless champion of our people) and laughed with all her heart with tears and gasps! This is what I am going to miss most – the way she experienced life.

  20. Damon and family, my heart is broken over the loss of this beautiful soul. May God carry you through this difficult time.

  21. Angel, you were not only my mentor during my early carrier at Deloitte but you were also my favorite partner and #1 role model. You made such a great impact on my professional development. I wouldn’t be the professional I am today without your guidance, mentorship, an coaching. Rest in peace and my deepest condolences to the family.

  22. My deepest sympathy to Damon and family. Angel was always a source of help to me and our teams in the past. God bless and comfort you all
