Ann Abbott Slomski

Ann Slomski passed away in the early morning of Friday, 3 September 2021. She was born in Fort Worth, TX, on 6 April 1927 to Bertie Ruth and Louis C. Abbott. Ann grew up in Fort Worth, and attended the Texas Christian University (TCU), where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1948. She studied language and voice while at TCU. Ann married Joseph F. Slomski on 9 July 1955. Joe passed away on 2 November 2010. Ann and Joe lived in Fairfax Station from 1972 until 2016, when Ann moved to the Westminster at Lake Ridge retirement community in Lake Ridge, VA. Ann taught piano and voice for many years in Northern Virginia. We are diminished by her passing.

Ann is survived by her son, Joseph F. Slomski, Jr. and her daughter-in-law, Penny A. Newsome of Fairfax Station, and her granddaughters Jane Slomski (Nathan Kay) of Manassas, Allison Slomski of Philadelphia, and Jacqueline Slomski of Richmond. Her granddaughter, Claire Slomski, passed away on 28 April 2019. A remembrance celebration for Ann is planned for Spring 2022. Donations in Ann's memory can be made to Virginia German Shepherd Rescue.
