Anne Stirling Forbes, a longtime resident of Vienna VA, died peacefully December 25, 2021 in her home surrounded by family; she was 84.
Anne Forbes “Nancy”, daughter of the late Judge Maurice and Jean (Stirling) McWalter, was born in Concord, MA on December 29, 1936. She attended Concord-Carlisle High and went onto to Stephens College in Columbia MO, graduating in 1953. Anne met her future husband while they worked as lifeguards at Waldon Pond in Concord. She married her sweetheart, Charles Otis Forbes, in 1954 and went on to have six children Charles Otis Forbes Jr., William Scott Forbes (Christine), Kim Forbes, Pamela Forbes Cooke (Ronnie), Edward Stirling Forbes (Renee), and Russell Sherman Forbes (Jennifer) and a 20-year career in retail at Bloomingdales & Talbots. Anne has eight grandchildren Emily A. Cooke, Julia F. Ostrander (Bobby), Danielle Forbes, Ronnie Cooke Jr., Natalie Forbes, Miles S. Forbes, Rusty Forbes Jr., and Cooper O. Forbes.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Otis Forbes (2001), brothers Thomas Stirling, Stephen Warren, sister Helen "Meg" Finan, and sister-in-law Mary Ann Forbes. Survived by brother Maurice McWalter Jr (Patricia) of Brewster MA, sister Mary Jean "Molly" Donahoe of Haverhill MA, and sister-in-law, Sandra Webber of Casey Key FL, and many nieces & nephews.
Because of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, Anne was loved by everyone. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, spending time with family and friends at Kent Island MD, and St. Croix USVI, traveling with her college roommates, and her conversations over the backyard fence with dear friends.
There will be a private family burial service on Jan 15th at Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouth Port MA. Visitation is Wednesday, Jan 26 5:00-7:00 PM and a chapel service Thursday, Jan 27 @ 1:00 PM at Money & King, 171 Maple Ave W, Vienna VA 22180. https://www.moneyandking.com/

Nancy was a great bridge partner! Being a novice she was very patient and helpful to me. Her stories about the family vacations were heartwarming and entertaining. She will always have a place in my heart. I will miss her. Diane Wood Young
Nancy was my neighbor and dear friend for 55 years. She, husband Chuck and family, lived just down the street and we were early owners in a new neighborhood. We enjoyed many of the same activities, including a passion for bridge; playing in our competitive neighborhood women’s bridge tournament as well as social bridge gatherings with our husbands and to become, life-long friends. Nancy was a welcome addition to any circle and had many interests, including playing golf. My husband Melvin had the opportunity to see more of her as she took this up and would always come home and say, “I saw Nancy today”, with a big smile. Not only lovely looking, but a beautiful compassionate soul, always ready to help a friend in need and never uttering a disparaging word. I will miss Nancy terribly, but take comfort in knowing that she looked forward to reuniting with Chuck and her many loved ones. Jean Rowe
