Beatrice Donaldson Hopson

July 18, 1924 – September 25, 2019

Beatrice was born in Texas, raised in Flat and was a long-time resident of Fairfax, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dan Louis Hopson; her parents, William Faye and Gertrude Parsons Donaldson; her brother Kelly and sisters Beth Stanley and Margaret Braun. She is survived by her sister Ida Lee Sterling; her six children: Michael Dan, William Keith, Kay Hopson Donaldson, Aldan Mark, Phillip Lynn, and Anne Hopson Joyce; her thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren who range in age from 30 to 9 months.

Beatrice and Dan met when his high school girls’ team competed against her basketball team. He laid eyes on her while she was playing and knew she was the one! They married in 1942 and were together for 61 years. They were able to travel the world and share those wonderful memories with friends and family.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her talents included her work as a skilled seamstress and phenomenal cook. She added a true touch of southern elegance to every gathering and conversation. She was a lover of music, especially classical and musical theater. Her laugh, smile and voice will live on in our memories.

Her words of wisdom to all were “Y’all take care of each other.”
