Bureda "Rita" Drinnon Goddard

Bureda 'Rita' Goddard, age 85 of Vienna, Virginia died in her home on March 27, 2023. Rita was born in Tennessee and lived there until graduating from Kingsport High School as the salutatorian. She moved to Richmond after graduating with a friend and met her future husband, Rudy. Rita and Rudy were married (twice!) and started their family in a multi-generational home in Richmond where they lived with their young children, Irv and Maria, along with Rudy's parents and grandparents. Rudy and Rita moved to Northern Virginia and started a family business with Rudy's brother Gene and where Rita played an integral role by keeping the books in addition to raising her growing family with the addition of Steve and David. Rita was very active in her church and children's school, Our Lady of Good Counsel. In addition to her family and work life, she enjoyed her friends, her dogs, and books.

Rita was predeceased by her parents (Walter and Minda Drinnon), her brothers (Herb, John and Morris), her husband (Rudolph I. Goddard), and her son (David). Rita is survived by her children: Irv Goddard (Teresa), Maria Sogegian (Bob), and Steve Goddard (Christine) and their children: Kacie Goddard, Kyle Goddard (Megan), Dan Goddard, Troy Goddard, William Sogegian, Alex Sogegian, Mark Sogegian, Ben Goddard, Sam Goddard, and Holden Goddard. Rita is also survived by her great-grandchildren Jax and River.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 8th at 10:00 a.m. at Money and King Funeral Home followed by a burial at Fairfax Memorial Park.
