Carroll Glen Sullivan, “Sully”, 87, of Vienna, VA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 12, 2020. Sully was the beloved husband of Jo Alice for 64 years. He was the devoted father of three daughters and one son and their spouses: Brenda & Tim Hosaflook, Danny & Yvonne Sullivan, Linda Uber, and Karen & Lee Neill; grandfather to Deidra, TJ, Katie, Jeremy, DJ, Jesse, Seanna, Crystal, Tracy and Brian; and great grandfather to Dylan, T2, Claudia and Bryson.

Sully was born on September 1, 1932 in Murphysboro, Illinois to Lulu and Charles Sullivan. He is survived by his sister Maxine and preceded in death by brothers Charlie, Sam, Kenny and Max. He spent 20 years in the U. S. Air Force where he was stationed in Japan, Greenland, Turkey and at the Pentagon in Washington DC. Upon honorable separation from the Air Force, in his retirement years, he became a Fairfax County school bus driver. He truly enjoyed driving the bus and was cherished by the children on his run, many of whom remained in touch with him. Throughout most of his later years he supported his adored wife, Jo Alice, with her Tupperware business.

Due to COVID-19, a memorial service will be postponed until larger gatherings are allowed. Sully will be inurned at Arlington Cemetery (date TBD).

  1. Sully was a very happy person..always welcoming to everyone.. He loved telling stories..we will miss him at our reunions. Thoughts & prayers for Jo & family?

  2. Dear Aunt Jo and family, I’ll always remember Uncle Sully smiling, laughing and sharing a joke or two or three! You’re in our thoughts and prayers. Gina and John

  3. Sully was the sweetest man! We enjoyed all the time we spent with him at the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department and I feel lucky he called me one of his angels. He will be truly missed by the Auxiliary at the VVFD and our prayers are with Jo Alice and his family. Rest easy Sully.

  4. I am so very sorry JoAlice and family. Sully was such a wonderful man who I felt he was my family too. JoAlice and Sully were a huge part of the VVFD bazaars twice a year and their presence made everyone smile and brightened up the room. Sully had the kindest heart, just as JoAlice does and I am so blest that I knew him and I will cherish my memories of him forever. God speed Sully, until we see you again. Hugs! Love, Lisa Emerson

  5. Brenda, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. Perhaps you may remember me from the time our families were stationed in Izmir Turkey. I am Jan (Scott) Davidson
