Claire Marie Duggan Curry

On January 28, 2023, Claire Marie (Duggan) Curry, Age 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family. Claire was married to William J. Curry (Bill) for 64 years until his death and is preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Curdo.

Claire follows her lifelong love and husband of over fifty years, William J. Curry (Bill) and grandson Michael Curdo. Claire was born in 1931, in Milton, MA to Mary and Tom Duggan and married Bill in 1952. While their life started in the Boston area, most of their adventures have been in the D.C. area (Washington D.C., and Vienna, VA) – but they never left the Red Sox nation!

Claire and Bill had seven children and a large extended family; Susan Varela (Claude), Linda Champagne (John), William Jr. (Carol), Robert (Pam), Kathy Blanford (Tom, who Mom says needs to finish the deal), Dianne Hon (John), and Matt (Judy). Also, with Paul and Judy Flaherty, Cousins Karen Curry and Janice Qaderi, 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren (with 2 on the way), cousins, and “adopted” family that we also call brothers and sisters, Claire and Bill defined grace, passion, and love their entire lives.

We are so sorry to see her go, but we do know that Heaven is richer, and she left a legacy that multiplies her own life’s work. So, we celebrate her life and all the memories and relish the opportunity to come close to her goodness.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Vienna, Virginia on Monday, February 6, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Claire’s and Bill’s ashes are to be joined together later in the day and returned to rest at St. Mark’s, also in Vienna. One special request from Claire is to wear bright clothing since we are not mourning her death but reveling in her legacy.

All are invited to a reception immediately following the service at the church hall, located next door, as well as a celebratory dinner at her residence located at 1742 Lockerbie Lane, Vienna, VA beginning at 4:00 PM. Claire wishes that her funeral be a party with cake and ice cream, so the Curry family asks that you join us in celebration and fellowship!

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Wilton, CT. , St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the American Cancer Society.

  1. So very sorry to read about Claire’s passing. We will always remember her Christmas gift of date&nut bread. It was delicious! She was a wonderful lady. I was blessed to have both Bill and Claire on my mail route. With deepest sympathy and prayers. Bryan &Kris Fritts
