CLAIRE MARIE LENT (née Lynch) died on February 17, 2021, age 97 at her home in Arlington, VA. She was born and grew up in Lawrence, MA. She was the first member of her Irish immigrant family to attend college, matriculating at Emmanuel College in Boston, MA on scholarship, and graduating with a BS, majoring in mathematics with a minor in physics in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Washington, DC to support the war effort, working as a statistician at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory. After the war, while working at the Labor Department, she met her future husband, Harold H. (Bud) Lent, Jr. They married in 1954. After raising her family, she returned to work, joining her husband at the Central Intelligence Agency, again as a statistician. In retirement she enjoyed traveling the world, visiting, among other places, London, England, China, India, South America, and Israel. She also served as a docent at museums including the National Museum of American Art and the Hillwood Estate, Museum and Garden. Her passion for opera and ballet took her to many of the great opera houses and theaters in the United States and around the world. She is predeceased by her ever-loving husband Bud and survived by her four children and nine grandchildren.
