Delfin B. Salazar M.D. of Fairfax, Virginia passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 1 at Kenwood Care at Maple Hill.
Born on December 24, 1927 in Obando, Bulacan, Philippines, Delfin was one of ten children of Simeon P. and Maxima Bautista Salazar. Loving husband of 58 years to Mary Jane Salazar (deceased) and devoted father of Linda Salazar and Vincent (Kimberly) Salazar, cherished grandfather of Catherine, Nicholas and Christina Salazar.
Delfin completed his undergraduate and medical school education in the Philippines before coming to the United States in 1956. In 1961, after Anesthesia residency training at Georgetown University, he joined the Anesthesia Department at Fairfax Hospital (now Inova Fairfax Hospital) in Falls Church, Virginia. Delfin practiced at Inova Fairfax Hospital for 31 years until his retirement in 1992 and was a founding partner of Fairfax Anesthesiology Associates.
In his retirement years, Delfin enjoyed time with family, playing golf and was a member of Westwood Country Club in Vienna, Virginia.
Family and friends are invited for visitation at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Avenue Vienna, VA on Sunday December 9 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, 3700 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax, VA on Monday, December 10 at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Delfin B. Salazar M.D. to the Inova Health Foundation – Inova Fairfax Hospital Fund for Nursing Excellence Endowment (Fund 316).

We are so very sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in God’s sure promise of a resurrection as set forth in the Bible (Acts 24:15, John 5:28, 29). Those who are raised to life on a restored paradise earth will have the prospect of never again being subjected to misery, sickness, and death (Revelation 21:4). I knew Dr. Salazar (“Sally”) for almost 45 years, during which time we frequently played golf and cards (hearts, gin rummy) at Westwood Country Club. Sally was one of a kind – always cheerful, loved a laugh, and he was a fierce competitor! It was always a joy to be in his company, and I had a great affection for this man. Our world certainly needs more “Sallys”! Our deepest sympathy to the Salazar family. Dr. and Mrs. Dave Pawson.
