Dorothy Rivers Weeks

Dorothy R. Weeks, 76 of Fairfax, Virginia went to be with her Lord unexpectedly on October 4, 2018. Dottie, as her loved ones called her, was preceded in death by her parents Walter R. Kerns and Dorothy R. Kerns; her husband Thurston B Weeks, Jr. and her sister Nell Johnson (Terry). Dottie is survived by her two children Tina M. Newman and Anthony R. Weeks (Kristina) and her sisters and brother Ruth Williams (John); Gail Kerns; Regina Workman; Walter R. Kerns, Jr.; Carrie Black and Dawn Kerns. Dottie also leaves behind her three grandsons, who were her pride and joy, Christopher R. Weeks, Troy A. Weeks and Zachary M. Weeks and her lifelong friend and sister Debra Salman. Dottie was a wonderful loving woman who was generous to all she knew and who touched the lives of so many around her. She worked for Sheets Wholesale for over 35 years and she helped numerous charities, veterans and the homeless. Those who knew her best knew of her devout love of the Lord and knew she read the Bible cover to cover twice. They know of her love of tea and collecting tea pots and encouraging young ladies to discover the long-lost art of drinking tea. She loved angels, butterflies, and elephants. Dottie’s true passion was her travels; her favorite travel memory was of being at the ocean eating seafood. Her deepest love and pride, however, were in her children. She had a profound love for her son and daughter and she was a phenomenal, loving mother to them both. She will be missed, always loved, and never forgotten by her family and friends. She will always live on through the lives she impacted. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service in her honor at 11:00 am on October 12, 2018 at Money and King Funeral Home 171 Maple Avenue W., Vienna, VA 22180
