Eileen Joan Brown

Eileen Brown, 87, went home to the Lord on Saturday January 12th, 2019. Eileen was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family and a wonderful and kind friend to all who knew her.
Eileen was born on September 25, 1931 in Camden, New Jersey, the daughter of a fireman and homemaker. Her young life was filled with family and friends in and around her neighborhood and school. She attended Camden Catholic High School and after graduation she worked in a hospital, where she met her future husband William T. Brown, Jr.
Bill and Eileen were married June 25, 1955 and together they raised three sons in a loving and very active family. They moved their young family from Haddon Township, NJ to Vienna, VA. in 1968. After 30 years of marriage her husband Bill passed July 14, 1985. She maintained the family home in Vienna for more than thirty years following Bill's passing where nothing gave her more pleasure than visits from family and friends.
Eileen kept active with friends and the community working as a manager for the American Cancer Society and as an Administrative Assistant for Coldwell Banker, both in Vienna. She enjoyed her Bridge Club friends and played with the same group for decades. Eileen most enjoyed having family and neighbors over to visit in her home and everyone knew that Eileen’s home was always open and welcoming to anyone and she took great care to make sure the family home was comforting for all to enjoy.
One of Eileen’s greatest pleasures was vacationing each summer in Cape May, NJ. for the annual family reunions. Seeing her sisters, visiting with all her relatives and making sure young and old alike enjoyed, supported and honored each other and the family traditions was very important to Eileen. Her humble attitude and soft spoken kindness were legendary and an example for generations of family to follow and was appreciated by all. She loved reading and sports, particularly baseball and especially when it involved her sons. She always made sure to keep up with her sons and grandchildren as the seasons went on and enjoyed seeing and hearing about their games. Her sons and grandchildren knew she was their number one fan and supported them always win or lose. She was just as likely to be seen sitting with her husband Bill in Fenway Park watching a son play in the Major Leagues as she was to be at a small local field watching another son or grandchild playing a Little League game.
Survivors include her three sons Bill (Alice) of Chantilly, VA, Mike (Jennifer) of Palm City, FL, and Jim (Stephanie) of Haymarket, VA; four grandchildren, Michael Jamison (MJ) Brown of Atlanta, GA, Jessica Carrie Brown of Chantilly, VA and Collin James Brown and Kelsey Lynne Brown, both of Haymarket, VA.
Eileen was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Bill, sisters, Kitty, Marie, Victoria and Anna May, and parents, Harry and Victoria Greenan.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her viewing on Friday evening January 18th at Money and King Funeral Home in Vienna between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday January 19th at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Vienna, Virginia followed by burial at Fairfax Memorial Park Cemetery in Fairfax, Virginia.

May you find comfort and peace at this difficult time in your lives. Your Mom/Grand Mom was a beautiful, sweet, loving ,caring woman. Her main devotion was to her family , whom she loved spending all her time with. Her Sons & Grandchildren her life. She treasured her Cape May trips with family every year and spending time with her sister Kitty & family members as it was a long time tradition. I loved seeing her she would light up a room with her sweet, kind spirit . She always made me feel like family too. Heaven has gained an Angel.
