Ellora Claire Carle

ellora carle
Ellora Claire Carle, known to her family and friends as Ellie, 82, died June 17, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves her husband of 58 years Lee Edward Carle, her daughter Tracey Anne Deal, her grandson Jackson Redmond Deal and her granddaughter Claire McKenzie Deal. Ellora attended Fisher College in Boston, MA, attaining an Associate’s Degree of Science in 1956. After graduating from Fisher, Ellora began her long career at the C.I.A. Working in numerous capacities in the Office of General Counsel and the Office of Congressional Affairs, finishing her career as an independent contractor in 2012. Ellora had a passion for travel and she and Lee had many wonderful travels together. Her true love was Paris, France, where she and Lee met. They were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in Paris with friends and family in 2011. Ellora certainly had a “joie de vivre” attitude towards life. Her love of cooking and entertaining will live on in all of us. Funeral services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

  1. I’m sorry for your loss. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and gave everlasting comfort and good hope by means of undeserved kindness, comfort your hearts and make you firm.”—2Th 2:16, 17

  2. Ellie and I shared the last row of Michaels exercise class at the McLean Racquet Club – for many years. She always exhibited such energy and a happy outlook, especially when talking about French cheese and a good restaurant. But she was so much more than that – so intelligent, strong, and determined. She exhibited these qualities as she cared for her husband Lee as his health failed. She is an example of the best – member of the AAUW Branch – as well as so many other groups. Her persistence during her last illness remains for me an example to follow. My sympathy and caring for her daughter and grandchildren.

  3. I, too, am a retiree from CIA and occasionally had contact with Ellie in her capacity in the Office of Legislative Counsel –always pleasant and a delight to know. Ironically, when I read she was a graduate of Fisher Jr. College, so, too, was my first cousin who passed away at age 50–too bad we can’t ask either of them if they knew each other as Fisher is a small, prestigious school. My sympathy to Ellie’s family. Jean Verbillis (6/25/19)

  4. Sorry to learn about this passing. I worked with Ellie’s husband Lee and got to know Ellie by extension. Sympathy to Lee, Doctor Tracey, and the grandkids. Eileen Wukitch, Pittsburgh, PA
