Evangeline T. Matreo, “Vangie” to friends and family, of Leesburg, VA, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the age of 69. She died peacefully surrounded by her family at INOVA Loudoun Hospital. She was the beloved mother of Arnes and his wife Michelle, and their sons AJ, Troy, Tyson of Ashburn, VA; and Mike and his wife Melabette, and their children Mariah, Mikey, and Mason of Leesburg, VA. She is also survived by her brother Abel and her sister Cency. Vangie attended ST. Scholastica’s College in Manila, Philippines. Vangie retired after 38 years of service from AFSCME. (American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees) She was part of the Research and Collective Bargaining department and received the BRK Award for 30 years of service with AFSCME. Vangie was a long-time resident in Arlington, VA prior to retiring and moving to Leesburg, VA in 2016.

Vangie and I worked together for many years, well over thirty. She was a kind and friendly person. We had many conversations and prayers , mostly regarding the welfare of our children, she loved Arnaz and Mikie very much. I will miss that spirit of love that she expressed even through her rough times. Go Rest High On That Mountain, Your work here is done. God is with you. CASEY
