James T. Mattingly, Jr.
November 27, 1936 ~ October 28, 2021
James Tynan Mattingly, Jr. passed peacefully into eternal rest on October 28, 2021 with his wife and children by his side.
He is survived by Edith, his beloved wife of 62 years, and children Christopher, Patricia and Marie, and his adored grandchild, Dresden. James was the oldest brother to Dianne, Katherine, Edward and Cecile. He was "Uncle Jimmy" to his many Mattingly and Eaton nieces and nephews.
James lived a rich life as his career took him and his family to Taiwan, Africa, Germany, Indonesia and Switzerland. He loved to have a good time ~ play golf and bridge, drink wine, watch WWII movies, travel abroad and to his "happy place" in OC, Maryland. Our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and our friend, James was devoted to his faith, family, friends and country.
The Family will receive friends at the Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, VA on Tuesday, November 2 from 5:00-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, 1725 Rhode Island Ave., NW Washington, DC on Wednesday, November 3 at 10:00am followed by internment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD at 12:45pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research or the VFW.

Uncle Jim had a way of everyone feel special and loved. There is a empty hole in our family.
Jim was truly a “good” person. A man with a great sense of humor, a genuine concern for others, and never afraid to show his emotions. Jim was one of the “good guys” in our many golf outings here, Myrtle Beach, Ocean City, Tanglewood and other courses in Virginia and Maryland. It was a pleasure to have known him and his son Chris. Jim Wagner
