Jeanne Louise Browning

Jeanne Louise Browning passed away unexpectedly at her home December 31, 2021. She was born December 28, 1963 to Ronald and Patricia Browning.
Jeanne graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt H.S. in 1982 and earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. She went on to receive a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, while working full-time and raising her young daughter as a single parent. She had an extensive career in IT software business development, working until her retirement in 2019.
She is survived by her daughter Eliza Jane Browning, her parents, siblings: Juliet and Kenneth Haislip, Timothy Browning, Theodore and Jill Browning, 5 nieces and 1 nephew and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jeanne loved her family, friends, cooking, music, her dogs, the Jazz & Heritage Festival, and was a staunch supporter of the Washington Nationals! She was an independent woman who enjoyed traveling, touring Europe and seeing the dismantling of the Berlin Wall, sailing in the Caribbean, visiting her brother in China twice, attending a Washington Football game in Japan, and always returning to her home away from home, New Orleans. She rarely shied away from a challenge and brought joy and laughter wherever she went. She was a resilient breast cancer survivor. She was thoughtful, kind, and generous both with her time and money. She was deeply loved; her light and joy will fill our memories with her laughter.
A Catholic funeral will be held 11AM on Friday, January 14th at St John Neumann in Reston, VA. A Vigil will be held 1 hour prior the Mass and a Reception to follow.

My dear sister was a firebrand who lived her life on her own terms. Her heart was full of love for her family and friends especially for Eliza. Her smile and laughter will be missed but I know she is in God’s arms wrapped in warmth love and joy.
Jeanne was a wonderful lady, one of the nicest persons I have known. She was full of joy and fun, and never had an unkind word. She was a true friend. -Alex Holder
Eliza, I was sorry to hear of your mother’s sudden passing. I will have fond memories of our Sunday happy hours on my driveway during the pandemic before it got cold. God bless you.

We were so happy to have been able to spend time with Jeanne this past summer. She would always make you feel welcome and was a cheerleader for fun. Love, Ethan and Trish
I’m deeply saddened about Jeanne’s recent passing. While too soon from our perspective, God must have needed her bright smile, plentiful laughter, and enormous talent for a higher calling. I express my heartfelt condolences to her family and pray that you are comforted as Jeannie takes her place at His eternal banquet. Rest in peace, Jeanne.
It’s been a joy and a privilege to know Jeanne. She was smart, funny, talented and fun. Jeanne was practical, plain-spoken, and you always knew what she really thought, but underneath it all was a heart of gold. Mostly I will remember her for her big heart and her commitment to life. When my daughter had an unexpected pregnancy, Jeanne swarmed in like a mother bear to provide advice and encouragement.
I never met Jeanne but after attending the mass and listening to one of the most beautiful eulogies I’ve ever heard, I wish I would have met Jeanne. She’s raised an incredible daughter in Eliza and I’m sure was smiling down from heaven that day as she listened to the beautiful tribute that Eliza gave her mother!
Dear Jeanne it has been one year today since Jesus came to take you home. Many of us miss you every day but I am sure both you and mom are now together watching over us. We love you always!
