John M. Jillions
August 27, 1946 ~ August 28, 2021
John Michael Jillions died peacefully in his home in Fairfax Station, Virginia, on August 28, 2021, after a two-year battle with lung cancer. John was 75 years old, having been born in Washington, DC, on August 27, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents Enid Rosalie King Jillions and Herbert Jillions, and his sister, Linda Jillions Schoeman.
He is survived by his wife Ronni Malamud Jillions, his former spouse Dawn Jillions, and his four children Jeffrey Harrison Jillions, Lori Jillions Fred and her husband Benjamin Fred, Kevin Michael Jillions, and Emily Claire Jillions, and four grandchildren, Jacob Jillions, Kora Jillions, Abigail (Abby) Fred, and Isaac Fred. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, and will be remembered by all who knew him for his strength, courage, and commitment to family.
John proudly served two years in the Navy during the Vietnam War, and in his time on the high seas, spent time in Naples, Italy, and the Caribbean. After the service, he achieved a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland. He was a diehard Terps basketball and Redskins football fan. After college, he went to work as a Patent Examiner, for the US Patent and Trademark Office, where he worked for over thirty years until his retirement in 2005.
John loved cruising and beach vacations with his family. He was also an avid genealogist, spending time in the archives and online researching his family. He was able to trace his roots on his mother’s side back to the 1600’s.
John was a soft-spoken, generous man, who was liked by everyone who met him. He was a wonderful father, and infinitely patient with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at 11:00 AM (EST) at the Money and King Funeral Home, 171 Maple Ave., Vienna, Virginia, 22180, followed by internment service at National Memorial Park, Floral Gardens, 7482 Lee Hwy., Fall Church, Virginia, 22042.
John’s family has invited friends and family to return to John and Ronni’s home (8629 Larkview Lane, Fairfax Station, VA 22039) after the services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

John was always a large part of our family, his extended family. He was kind, calm, and welcoming. He traveled a long distance to be at our wedding and his passing is a pain in my heart.

I was so very sorry to hear that John had passed. We were close friends during our high school years in the early to mid 60’s, and stayed in touch for 15 to 20 years after graduation. As a teenager, he and his dad opened their home to all the neighborhood teens, and it was not unusual to see half a dozen teens hanging out there at any given time. As a teen, John was athletic and very good in sports. He was an easy going, polite and soft spoken guy who was fun to be around. I will always remember and value his friendship and kindness.
